Official World Cup Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Im not to sure but wasnt there a thread on here some time ago telling us irish gooners to get over it when henry handled the ball which meant we didnt qualify for the world cup and how some of our english gooner friends seemed to enjoy what happened to us.

Really inappropriate

I was being sarcastic, mate. Front page of one of the daily rags in England has Rooney in a tin hat. I was making the point that the press seem to think that has something to do with football.

As an Englishman I did not laugh at the Henry thing....
As an Englishman I am embarrassed to say the team today was a joke...

Ireland went out unfairly
England went out and could not give a fuck

Yep, Ingerland couldn't give a shit, I suppose Wenger and The Arsenal will somehow be blamed, nearly won a wedge also, had the Germans to win 3-1, as couldn't see any other result other than a German win.

I must say though, if Argentina get through tonight, I think they'll beat this German side.

:lol: :lol: :lol:

Australia lost 4-0 to the Germans with 10 men and arguably a very weak team by international standards.

The Poms lost 4-1 to the Germans with 11 men and a squad they thought could win the World Cup.

:oops:

England have just been hammered by an Arsenal B team. Oetzil is the only one good enough to be in the Arsenal First XI (and maybe Neuer because we don't have a decent keeper), and even Oetzil is a poor man's Fabregas.
Rooney only looks good when he plays with Ronaldo and Valencia, and Lampard and Gerrard are overhyped tossers.
Arsenal>>>>>>>>>>>>England

And so you should be, the better team won.
Doesn't James Milner feel like an absolute t**t now....reality is that I think Argentina will beat you unless Mexico pulls off a shock...can't see it though.

The Germans will certainly give Argentina a good game though. I'd love to see the Germans beat them.

Well what have we learned?

Barry is too slow and not international class;

Upson is too slow and not international class;

Johnson is poor defensively and is not international class;

Emile Heskey is not international class;

Terry needs someone fast next to him otherwise he gives the impression of not being international class;

Someone has got to bite the bullet and realise that you can't play Lampard and Gerrard in the same team with affecting one or both of their natural games;

Defoe was quite today but deserves another chance. However, it's patently clear that like the Lamps/Stevie G situation, he can't play well with Rooney;

4-4-2 very rarely works at the very highest international level and England need to devise a different system and way of playing;

The manager needs to put together a team - not necessarily the best players - that can play that formation.

Apart from that, everything's dandy!!!
