Why was a below par Rooney not subbed at half time?
Why was Gerrard on the left?
Why was Crouch not used?
Why was Upson preferred to Carragher or Dawson?
Why was Sol not taken?
Why do people think Johnson is a right back when he has all the attributes of a attacking midfielder and few of a defender?
Why are so many tickets given to corporate fans?
Why do people feel Capello should stay on?

funny that you made those questions, as the ones highlighted are the ones i'd really love to hear the answers to. to add to that:

Why was a below par Rooney not subbed at half time?
rooney was shockingly bad the whole tournament. why was he never subbed off?

Why was Gerrard on the left?
the guy is one of the best central midfielders in the world, so he was played at left? why the hell??? it doesn't make any sense at all to me. it's like brazil, "we don't have a good left back, so let's call a lot of midfielders and stick one in there" :banghead: ffs!

Why was Crouch not used?
correct me if i'm wrong, but he was always very decent for the national side (including in the last wc), scoring a few goals and all that. even for the tall german defense i'm sure he'd be a danger in the air. and could not possibly play any worse than rooney or heskey!

Why do people think Johnson is a right back when he has all the attributes of a attacking midfielder and few of a defender?
i see people criticising eboué as a defender, but johnson is no better than him. very good and technical going forward, but horrible at the back. there was a hole in england's defence the whole world cup, in the right side.

I'm disappointed for England, they deserved better but at the end of the day they had too many frailties:
- lack of technical ability
- the defense were too shaky, slow, with wrong positioning
- too many players, and important ones, were jaded with this season (without any break).
- a manager who speak english worse than me  and didn't seem to understand english culture.
- huge expectation, maybe too much ambition for a great team but not good enough to win the title.

... but if the ref had done his job, there was 2-2 at half time and it would a been a very different story.

Different Story , same result Methinks .
How else would it have been really , from Keeper , defense , midfield ,right
through to strikers its been an unmitigated mess . There's Probably no one Team in this World Cup that does not have a weakness in one Area or other or needing strengthening somehow but England somehow manage to have a full hand of fcuk ups . What is glaringly obvious is England have not been able to sort out the Basics , basics that sometimes plaster over frailties and that occasionally other strengths will buy you another crack of the whip .
Golden Generation + Manager with Golden touch should = Golden Moments
instead of Golden Egg award............. Finishing Runners up sealed England's exit but would they even have beaten Ghana ?
Two goals as their final Tally ? Not near good enough but that's the best way to sum up every part of the teams and Managers performance .

I think simply because of the clear lack of high-quality alternatives coupled with the fact that heis one of the only ones who can do something special out of nothing. Plus he was probably a penalty taker at that stage :)

Why was Gerrard on the left?
Because Capello just likes his 4-4-2 so much, therefore I think he saw two very attacking full backs would let Gerard to move inside. This did happen but also lead to massive gaps at the back. Luckily, that didn't lead to any g.....oh :?

Why was Crouch not used?
He just trusts Heskey ahead of him.

Why was Upson preferred to Carragher or Dawson?
Well, I guess because of a matter of continuity now that Capello had found a winning formula

Why was Sol not taken?
I think it it was too late in the day to pick him, considering the season. And I think despite his "relatively" good performances, he is teetering on the edge.

He is the product pf modern full-backs. They do have to be more attacking, it's unfortunate that defensively he is so weak.

Why are so many tickets given to corporate fans?
Sky 1992

Why do people feel Capello should stay on?
I don't care one way or the other. But as an analysis he got some things wrong (the desperate chase of Scholes and Carragher in the run-up) was a pointer. However, the raw materials aren't so good at the moment. :?

To be honest that looks like bog-standard Daily Mail scaremongering & typecasting. Out of the tens of millions of people who watched the game they’ve got a handful of photos taken from places all over the world (London to SA to Melbourne) & come up with a few incidents that they somehow equate to being evidence of “old style hooliganism!â€
