I have to say that with every passing transfer window my feelings of resentment towards wenger and the board grow. It's not as if we sit here bemoaning the fact that aint signing messi or somebody like that but when a player like kjaer becomes available and we aint even interested it really makes my blood boil  It is decisions like this where I feel that it is a personal assesment by wenger that is preventing us buying a player like kjaer rather than a financial issue and as I have said before wenger's assesment of players has been shot to shit for a long time now  Time to get a new pair of eyes making these assesments ?

Back to the same ol' in that when David Dein was on board things happened a lot quicker and Wenger could afford to go off the boil when a distraction like a major Tournament came around .
This time though , considering the mass clear out of centre halves we're undergoing and the huge uncertainty regarding Fabregas not forgetting that IMO ,he's starting to feel the pressure of recent under achievement , it's imperative he has his finger on the pulse and pulling the right strings to make things happen .
Maybe we underestimate the Man and he's a few steps ahead of us but even if he bloody delegated another set of Eyes that would do the Job that went before we might not be as twitchy .
Still , the Transfer window is still young .

Hands up I am only going on what I have seen at the world cup - saying that I think that you can dismiss a striker or goal scoring midfielders acheivement at a world cup as a player that had a few good weeks but I dont think the same applies to a defender or keeper even. What I look for in a defender is positioning, tackling, pace and toughness and from what I have seen of kjaer he has impressed and if rumours are true then he has also impressed both manc clubs and the scum not to mention some of the big european clubs too 8) As well as being an established defender for his country he is also 21 years old so he has scope to improve and has many years ahead of him which suits one of the main wenger criteria

I know that it is stating that obvious but we cannot get into a financial pissing competition with the likes of the manc clubs or the chavs cos they will blow us out of the water. As a result of this we need to do our business early when clubs like the chavs are trying to tie up deals for the likes of david silva and that is exactly what the scum are trying to do. Living off the scraps of the big boys for the elite players is understandable but if we are waiting to see what players are still available after other clubs have bought their players from the tier 2 and tier 3 players is unacceptable to me and yet every fcuking transfer window that is what we seem to do and it will never change as long as we have wenger and this current board of *word censored* in charge

"We want to improve our quality this summer. It is not necessarily a large number of players that we need to buy but I believe you don't win the title when you concede 40 goals. Leave the transfer business to me and when you come back in July for the Emirates Cup you will see".

Assuming that there must be a period of settling in before Wenger would allow someone to play for us, even in a friendly, then I'd say that we have no more than two weeks if the promise is to be kept. If Arsene is the deal maker then that gives him probably 3 or 4 days after returning from SA.....

So far, the leaky defence has been weakened still further by the loss of Gallas, Silvestre, Sol (possible?) and - although unused - Senderos. We've been rumoured to be interested in a keeper and one centre back. The club is either unbelievably good at keeping things quiet....or we're in big trouble come August!!

I have given up on Arsenal and the transfer speculation this summer.

Comments like the above from Wenger appear to be more about selling season Emirates Cup tickets rather than squad building.

What the hell would we gain from seeing any new player getting half a game in a pre-season match?

"Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has landed centre-back Laurent Koscielny from French club Lorient as an £8.5m replacement for William Gallas, who is set to leave the Emirates after failing to agree a new deal".

While welcoming the rumour that Laurent may or may not be on his way to Arsenal.....and hoping that he goes on to great things.....he is hardly a "replacement" for a player as experienced as William Gallas! Is the defence stronger with Gallas out and Laurent in....? Of course it's not.

Fairer to describe Laurent as a replacement for, and improvement on, Silvestre..... Which means that we would still need to buy a keeper and at least one top class experienced centre back before we could truly start talking about "improving our quality"!!

Well, going by their prediliction for perma-crocked centre backs, id say at least seven, that ought to mitigate his twitches for a while.

Oh well heres to Carlos Vela Arsenal's new No.9, goodluck you will need it

The number 9 shirt didnt do Alan Smith any harm. Its not about the number its about the player, all the wearers of 9 you mentioned above werent up to it then only one that had bad luck was Eduardo with is injury
The number 9 hoodoo came from the introduction of squad numbering basically the start of the Prem.
Prior to the Prem Smith (number 9) was fine. Then the squad numbering started and had a repetitive back injury.....it eventually forced him to retire.

You've also forgot Merse of the list!
When DB10 joined he took the 10 shirt from Merse who moved to the dreaded number 9.
Shortly after Merse broke down and revelled to the world about his addictions. Was never quite the same player after re-hab and was then out of favour with Wenger.
