Sir Chips Keswick

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sir Chips Keswick

Dunno whether this is really from him, but it is a petition to change the name of the Piccadilly Line to the 'Arsenal' Line

"Ask any foreigner about London and they will instantly say "Arsenal Football Club".

As big an Arsenal fan as I am - I still think there are a few foreigners who might say Buck House, Big Ben, Tower Bridge or St. Paul's before Arsenal.

My signature is 32nd. But I think it is very unlikely to happen when you consider the line's name was "Great Northern, Piccadilly & Brompton Railway" more than a century ago. Also, I am sure many Spurs, Chelsea and Man Utd (plenty of them in London  ) fans would protest.

I don't think I'm that inclined to sign it.

It would be much more practical to get a petition to get Drayton Park station open on matchdays - and if the reasons for it's closure on matchdays are safety related then getting that bit sorted too.

I think Sir Chips Keswick, who moves in some very influential circles, would know how to spell the Mayor of London's name and would not address a petition to "President Blair".

I think we can safely assume he has no involvement and that the club would consider they have better things to devote their energy to that something that is clearly never going to get anywhere.

I thought his contact email address of "[email protected]" at the bottom was a small clue towards the validity of this!

Dunno you know, [email protected] might have been taken by that thing off Catchphrase (not Roy Walker).
