Out of interest, how much did The Verminator cost?

Vermaelen had over 20 caps for Belgium and was captain of Ajax. Kosneilsky (or whatever his name is) has never played for France/Poland even with both of the countries problems and has only played one year in the French top division. Its not the same situation

Well barely a "Vermaelen situation" as flash pointed out... I don't mind signing the lad but spending Â£8M (can't remember where I saw that figure) on an unproven player (who never accomplished anything and has just one year of Ligue 1 football under his belt) is a bit out of order in my opinion...

The sacry thing is if this is the type of player we'll spend 8 million for but we won't spend 12-15 million on a more proven player at this point we can't seriously expect to win anything this year nor for things to improve anytime soon unless some clubs are banned from competiting to win the Premiership, and I mean that 100%.
