I have never seen this guy play before and know almost nothing about him...but i do know if Wenger has forked out 8m of his own cash  for him, then he has done some serious research on the guy over a long period of time and obviously rates him highly..
So until i have seen him play for us i'll assume he is going to be a bargain find along the lines of Sagna and not an overpriced nobody that he has bought in desperation because he is too tight to pay more for the real deal...I'm expecting him to be a positive surprise...

Ouest France (newspaper from Brittany) said he had his first training session today. So YG guessed it was with the youth team and Reserves who started training few days ago.

To a certain extent every player a club buys is a gamble but paying 8m for a 25yr old player with as limited experience as this guy has is fcuking way beyond the point of a gamble :worried: Is this falling in line with wenger's plan to bring sucess to the club but only with his ethos.....as in he would rather buy an 8m unknown player than 10m for an experienced international centre back ? I cant take much more of this guys transfer dealings and as far as I am concerned the signing of the moroccan guy and this polish/french guy has done absolutely fcuk all to reassure me for next season and signing a 37yr old keeper wont help much either   :banghead:

:-P

No Vince, they "exclusively revealed" he trained with the youths.

Knowing how tight this bastard is, him paying 8m for a guy who is pretty much unknown and has achieved nothing is a huge act of faith and can only mean he sees something special in the guy..
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment as he has made some decent finds in the past..but if this guy turns out to be a dud and Wenger has put all his eggs in this basket then he truely has lost his marbles and it will be time for him to go...

If you knew the truth behind this article you'd laugh

But Young Guns is a great blog, one of the most successful arsenal blog in the internet.

Agreed - that's my position, too. Until I've seen him play, I can't really form an opinion.

Wenger spending that amount on a 25yr old, non-international with only one season in the French top division is certainly an interesting one. Clearly he rates him VERY highly, so fingers crossed!

I just heard that Grimandi was already watching him when he was playing for Tours FC (in 3rd division). He was already impressed but he had some doubts about him, so we didn't go for him and he went to Lorient where he became one of the best CB in France. It's a shame coz we could have had him for £2m.

By all accounts Grimandi and co were watching Sagna for at least 2 seasons..before we decided to take the plunge...so you can guarantee they know this guy inside out...and they are certainly not judging him on just a couple of good games..

I think Grimandi wasn't scout when they signed
