Squad Numbers

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Squad Numbers

Post by augie »

Dont know if there is already a thread on this (and I really really cant be arsed to look for it right now  ) and am not sure if it is worthy of a new thread or if it should go elsewhere but anyway I have just received a phone call from Arsenal Home Shopping Dept informing me that van persie is changing from number 11 this season (I had a shirt ordered for my kid and he wanted rvp on it ok ?  ).
Is he moving to the vacant number 10 or maybe the soon to be vacant number 9 ? Or maybe he is leaving the club altogether as was rumoured lately and from some newly found morality the club has decided not to sell any of his shirts in the meantime ?

this being arsenal, he'll probably pick the number 6, koscielny will have almunia's number 1 and the new goalkeeper, bought from the 3rd division in belarus, will wear the number 13 as a tribute to alex hleb.

Interesting. If anyone in the squad is worthy of Dennis's shirt, I'd say RVP.

I imagine its 10 as Eduardo hasn't officially left and Gallas is definitely out of contract.

on the shop on the official site it says 'squad number pending ' next to van persie's name. i agree 10 is the most likely option.

I thought Arshavin would have been straight in to Wenger's office asking for the number 10!

Seriously man it is too early in the day to be talking shite......he may not have hit the heights on a consistant enough basis and sometimes may appear to work hard enough but useless ?? He is one of the very few absolutely gifted class players in our squad so I dont fcuking think so
