I am totally unimpressed by the latest signing of lorent kosceleny (Its everywhere, the deal has beend done). I was expecting a defence leader, one who can command the defence like the carlos puyol of barelona or the maldini of milan. Not a 24 year old one season at lorent cb. I thought times had changed, and we were moving to sign more experienced established players.
Oh well, lets see how right Wenger is about this one.
Arsenal open talks with Benfica & Algeria defender Rafik Halliche - report
Arsenal are reported to have begun negotiations to swell their depleted defensive ranks with Algeria World Cup 2010 star Rafik Halliche, according to Chromofoot.com.
Halliche, 23, caught the eye of manager Arsene Wenger with his strong displays in South Africa. After helping to shut out England in the group stage, the Benfica defender tops the list of targets to replace out of contract stars William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre.
Talks between the centre back's agent and Arsenal are rumoured to have already begun in a London hotel. Halliche is understood to be keen to make the switch after spending the last two seasons on loan at Nacional.

Maybe some performances will have confirmed what Wenger already thought, but I don't believe that he would buy someone purely because of their displays in the World Cup. That's only just a step up from buying some South American after seeing them on youtube!

All is not lost.... We've got players returning from injury and I remember someone once saying that they are like new signings (and free ones at that which is a great bonus!!!!).
1143 BST: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he will "make an announcement on the goalkeeping situation after the World Cup".
Wenger, who has been linked with moves for Fulham's Mark Schwarzer and Portugal international keeper Eduardo, said: "[Current number one] Manuel Almunia is a talented goalkeeper. In training, he is superb, the only problem is that he gets nervous on big matches, thereby making silly mistakes." (The Standard - Kenyan newspaper)
1029 BST: Felipe Melo has moved a step closer to leaving Juventus after general director Giuseppe Marotta indicated the Serie A club will listen to offers for the Brazil midfielder. Reports in Italy claim Melo could join Arsenal this summer in an exchange deal which would see Gunners left-back Gael Clichy move the other way.

Eduardo "the goalie" has signed for Genoa so that option is out the window.
I bet my left nut that Almunia will be around at the start of the season.
