Have you seen him play then?

Exactly, you haven't seen him play so STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quit talking shit until you see him play then you can judge him!! Would you rather have him or Sylvester?! FFS!!!!!!!!
Try and understand what he's trying to say. Hes played at a french side for ONE SEASON (league 1 ), there were NO COMPETITORS for the signing of this man, what makes his price 8.5 or 10?. .

Not too much but those transfer fees are just an absolute joke!!! He's played at Lorient for one year and we have to pay £8.5M???!!! Do me a favour please...
I've got nothing against the lad and I hope he wears the shirt with pride next season
Just to be clear, are you passing judgements before you've seen the lad kick a ball?
Not at all... I have nothing against him and I'm not passing judgements... I understand he's had a good season but surely we could have got him a lot cheaper!
Grouping fans isn't the best idea but you have to sense the irony here. All I ever see from fans on the net is "Wenger doesn't spend enough" or "If only we had bidded more, we would of got (please instert name here). When we go out of our way to sign someone, we get slated for it. It was clear that Wenger wanted him and we tried the "cheaper" bids. We started at 4 mill, which tbf was an insult and we ended up paying what he was worth. The same applies with us, we'd want the highest possible fees for our players if they were leaving, there is no difference.

This isn't an attack on you, im just tired of seeing "fans" being hypocrtical. It's just never good enough for some.

I really have to wonder if you are a wum or actually understand what fans have been complaining about for the last number of years  Fans have not been complaining about wenger not spending enough......we have been complaining that wenger is buying cheap rather than buying quality
With this latest purchase wenger appears to have gone the cheap end of the market again only this time he appears to be paying a high price for it - you can defend a player only so far if you havent seen him play but to pay that kind of a price for a player of that age with that little experience is absolute folly and a risk of the highest order and to me it is the equivilent of buying a cheap product from aldi and paying a high corner store price and you dont need to have an economics degree to question the wisdom of that.

How the fcuk you can claim 4m to be an insult for this player baffles me :? Yes in the past we have all complained when we have lost out on buying a player for a million or two (xabi alonso for example) but the players you refer to were proven players where as this guy has really only proved himself to be one of the best players in ligue 2  Sometimes wenger has maybe paid over the odds for young players but at least on that point we can argue that he is buying a player with potential to improve with years to improve and a resale value but this guy hasnt got either of these. As I said calling anybody that questions any aspect of this deal "hypocritical" is ridiculous and suggests that maybe you need to work on your knowledge of the financial workings of this world

Not happy at all. We need big tall players, at 185cm & 75 kg this is just another walk in the park for Drogba, Rooney etc and the prie is a joke. It seemed silly when ManU bought Ferdinand for £30m but at least you know what you get. This may well b 10m down the drain or another player that is going to giv us a few years of half decent performances than P&ss off to the next country...
I think Arsenal payed about £6m and the rest will be payed later, it'll depends of his performances.

I don't really kno what to expect with him, but he seems closer to Vermaelen than Cygan, if you see what I mean. Wait & see ....
If he's another Vermaelen then I'll be very happy

Maybe a tall defender is needed, but a tall defender has to be mobile as well. If we sign someone like Mertesacker who is tall but not very mobile it could be a disaster waiting to happen...

How does calling someone a hypocrite suggest I need to sharpen up on my financial knowledge? All i've said is that the "fans" never seem to be happy. We've strengthened a position, we've spent money and got the player that we desired but that isn't good enough for you. Too many people are passing judgements and he's yet to even play a match for us. Seriously, save any judgements until after you've seen him play some football.

Just a side note, im a training personal financial adviser, so thats that out of the window now I suppose!

You don't need to be a genius to work out Wenger's signed another Vermlalen when what we really need is a new Sol Campbell o Tony Adams, or at least someone with the potential to become one.

Onlygotonesong, can you explain to me how buying a 25 year old with one seasons experience in ligue one and no international experience at all can be viewed as strengthening a position that as recently been filled by gallas and sol campbell ? :? Are you daring to suggest that he is better than those two and if so arent you that one that is passing judgement on a player without actually seeing him play ? That my friend is what is known as utter hypocrisy

On a side note I really have to wonder about the careers guidance people over there in engerland if the suitability of occupations of some of our members here is anything to go by (I dont need to name names do I ? )

You don't know he will be first choice.

Campbell and Toure were regulars in the invincible team with stupid numbers like 23 and 27... and wasn't our regular right back, Lauren, number 12?? :? whereas Diaby, Senderos and Eduardo have never been regulars, despite their low squad numbers, so I wouldn't read too much into it, to be honest.

Also, as I keep saying, most (if not all) of us know fuck all about Koscielny, whereas Arsenal have probably followed him closely since birth, so lets wait and see how good he is before we get all negative - he might be a revelation. In any case, last season we conceded something like 40 league goals, so we can hardly get any worse, can we!......erm... can we???? :? :? :?

I didnt state that Koscielny was any better than Gallas or Campbell but the position has been strengthened since they have left. We had Djourou and Vermaelen notably, so therefore the position is in a better state than previously.

Also, its not careers guidance people, they're quite rare nowadays actually. I just got a decent grade in Economics and applied for a job that I felt I would be good at and got offered a contract.
