I think Almunia will still be around at the start of the season, but as a number 2....hopefully.

I don't think Wenger can make the statement he has if he wasn't in the market for a keeper. I'm just not convinced that Schwarzer is an upgrade on Almunia

Wenger, who has been linked with moves for Fulham's Mark Schwarzer and Portugal international keeper Eduardo, said: "[Current number one] Manuel Almunia is a talented goalkeeper. In training, he is superb, the only problem is that he gets nervous on big matches, thereby making silly mistakes." (The Standard - Kenyan newspaper)

Reports in Italy claim Melo could join Arsenal this summer in an exchange deal which would see Gunners left-back Gael Clichy move the other way.

Eduardo "the goalie" has signed for Genoa so that option is out the window.

I bet my left nut that Almunia will be around at the start of the season. :banghead:
Would you prefer that amateurs choice; the burdizzo Image

Or perhaps the the sheppards favourite, the good old elastic band (sized up or down on the **** scale of course);

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... senal.html
Arsenal face competition from Tottenham and Liverpool as they try to sign Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The Gunners were favourites to land the England international for around £6million after opening negotiations but wages are proving a problem.

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has indicated the club will listen to offers for Felipe Melo.

The Brazil midfielder, who joined Juve from Fiorentina last summer, is under contract with the Serie A giants until June 2014.

But reports in Italy claim the 27-year-old could join Arsenal this summer in an exchange deal which would see left-back Gael Clichy depart the Emirates for the Turin giants.

"Melo's situation is the same as other players at the club," Marotta told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Hence, we are on guard to evaluate all eventual offers."
