Arsenal Sign Centre Back Laurent Koscielny

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What can I hear? Oh yeah, it is the sound of Drogba and Rooney laughing their massive arses off

:worried: :speechless: :speechless: :speechless:

I would also like to point out to those that tried to argue that the transfer fee was 6m that koscielny himself has just confirmed that it is 10m plus bonuses

im in complete agreement with augie, about the seemingly overinflated fee here.

sure he could be a great signing, but weve been shafted on the price seemingly, even if he is a future star, for the simple facts there was little competition, he is unproven at a decent level (no one can argue with this ligue 1 is weak, as are lorient) and we could have got him much cheaper if he had demanded to leave and we bid 6-7 mill along with coqulin.

we look like wev'e been ripped off.
also its hardly strengthening to replace a decorated france international cb with an uncapped player.....who hasnt even been courted by poland

Is this not what is wrong in Inglish football at the moment? We had all the comments about the team, no body supporting them at the WC, then they failed. As predicted there were fingers pointed at AFC for their lack of Inglish players, and :blah: :blah: :blah:
But no matter who you support, you have to look at the league your team plays in too.
So, we built a new stadium and we a bit skint for the last few years and the next few, but we must keep the negativity up and insult everyone else but our league.

So according to our fans:
This guy won't make it at the Arsenal even though most of us haven't seen him play yet.
He is not physical enough to play the Inglish game.

Are we not being too hypocritical of the guy? I heard really good things about him, but with all the naysayers, I am starting to doubt myself.

And now all of the sudden everyone is happy with the physicality of the Premier League? We weren't so happy when physicality was and then wasn't going our way. FFS football is changing and maybe the tippy tappy football is gonna set us onto a good road to trophies.

There are many varying opinions on here about every topic related to the club, the new centre half included... so it's incorrect to use the sweeping ''our fans'' or ''everyone'' statements because not ''everyone'' thinks the same thing...far from it...you will find opinions ranging from one extreme to the other on this topic as on every other..

My mistake B-G, my only worry is that we are slating a player for not being physical enough for the league, but we are also the team that is saying that we sign light-weight players

A center back who openly admits to not being strong physically but expects to succeed in the Premier League.

Only Wenger would sign such a player.

Why single me out? I gave my opinion about the transfer, an Irishman starts whinging at me for supposedly having little knowledge with regards to finance and now you. Seriously, its a forum and people have different opinions, that's the beauty of a debate, why you needed to bring me into it I really dont know. Not only did you have no input to the argument, you try and belittle my career. Wow. You, or anybody else on this forum for that matter, do not know me, therefore you cannot pass judgements on my knowledge or anything else to do with me. You lot like making judgements without evidence dont you!

Why bring my nationality into this ? It's not like I give a shit or anything but I cant see the relevance of it :?

Anyway as regards you being singled out can I suggest that you chill a little bit ? If I offended you with my tongue in cheek remarks about your choice of profession then I apologise (sometimes you have bad days and things dont look the same on the computer as they sound in your head  ). I would suggest that your refusal to accept the transfer fee being reported basically singled you out as somebody who will defend the indefensible but ce la vie. What matters now is that the transfer fee is indeed 10m as reported and we were right and you were wrong but dont feel that you need to apologise over it
