Come Back Nicolas Anelka. All is forgiven (16/4)

Post by gooner.ed »

usual thread starter... ok, he was a petulant sod. but i blame his older brothers for leading him astray. then again, would th14 have ever become a gunner if nic had stuck around? would be good if we had both... even now!

I actually thought about this one a couple of weeks ago. Wengers comes out about these 'super class players', we all know that he highly rates Anelka's ability, he once said that his dream was to get Henry & Anelka playing together up front, and Anelka has stated he would be tempted to join a big club in the summer. If you put all these together then a comeback looks highly possible.

But I don't think Anelka deserves a 2nd chance after what he did. He wanted to go, and look at his career since he was sold!

I think Henry & Van Persie will be the best partnership in Europe next season. So I don't think we will be signing another forward, especially with Bendtner returning and the possibility of the beast sigining on ( ).

Anelka for Arsenal

Post by Arsenal Analysis »

We have advocated (in our web site) that Anelka has all the important characteristics to be a hugely successful Arsenal player again

Anelka

OK lads, Get a grip please.

We dont need him or his baggage. A lot of water has gone under the bridge I know and time is a healer however dont forget the way his family treated the club. Sod him he was old enough to know better back then and should have put a stop to it. I'll stick with TH14 & RVP thank you!

We have a lot to thank Anelka for if he hadn"t left we would never have signed Henry.Wenger said the £23million we got for him bought us Henry and paid for our new training ground. The reason he failed at other clubs was he didn"t have Wenger there. When he went to Liverpool there were rumours that Wenger wanted to resign him but the board and particulary David Dein blocked it.

He's had his chance and he blew it. I was discussing on Saturday with the guys who I sit with how good Anelka could have been and how much he could have achieved until he fucked things up for himself. He was clearly hugely talented, was being coached and developed by Arsene and was being helped and protected by the club. He then went to Real Madrid where they expected him to be the finished article straight away. Such a shame but he did it to himself.

Henry and RVP, yep we all know how good they are. But don't forget Adebayor. For me he is one of the most improved players at the club this season compared to his tentative displays in August and September. He's developed into a work horse with a great touch and his hold up play has shaped many of our best performances this season. For me when he's on form it's difficult to leave him out. I also love his attitude - he never stops working.

Yeah, Trev - have to agree on Yabba. Thought he was really dodgy when he joined but he has improved BIG time. I too love his hunger and work rate - if more of our lads had it we wouldn't be where we are. Possibly. Maybe. I dunno... :?

Just another example of how we need to have patience with new players as it can take a whole season to adjust to the pace of the EPL.

Anyhow, we may see the best of him next season. 8)

Hey guys...You know I would like Anelka back but only if the price is right.
To be honest I know we have really good talent at Arsenal right now but lets face it TH14 and RVP have be out all season and RVP is still our top goal scorer...I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense to me.

I think Lee Dixon was right when he said our problem is we don't have an Ian Wright, you know someone who is just hungry for goals to finish all what the kids create. Anleka I feel would give us that. Remember when teams shot down TH14 we don't play. Ironically all this season whenever TH14 played we struggled to win games it was like everyone left if up to him. When he didn't play they stepped up. I just feel having another attaking player with pace and whilst TH14 is much much much better than Anelka, having Anelka on the pitch will give teams more to worry about. Too tight on TH14 you risk freeing up Anelka. Note how Man U have Ronaldo, Rooney and another striker! Which makes them a headace for defenses.

Also note that Drogba has come into his own since Chevchenko joined that team. He reputation I feel means teams worry about him and that frees up Drogba.

Obviously if we could get Tores or better yet Eto then forget Anelka.

What I really want to know is why we seem to keep loosing talented players, that could have helped during our down patches this season. Guess maybe they weren't squad players!

I know Adebayor didn't have his greatest game on Tuesday night but it did remind me how good Anelka's first touch was. One of the things that really frustates a fan is when a player wastes a good opportunity just as it starts because he can't control the ball. At least with Anelka if someone passed the ball to him he would control it first time. However, I would never have Anelka back because of his bad mouth attitude. One of the reasons why Ferguson is such a good manager is that he is totally ruthless with players who slag you off.

Very true Woody!!

Tho I think aside from d Cole fiasco AW is prity much the same he just doesn't make a public issue of it. He simply lets them go, but I think most of our players are very happy at the club and we've only lost the ones we have because they didn't like being squad players and went elsewhere to get regular first team places or longer contracts. I was sorry to see Pennant, Upson, Pires and Lauren go, but guess these things happen.
