Eiji Kawashima, the Japanese Goalkeeper, impressed in the friendly v England making some cracking saves and then had a very good tournament.

Hard to judge a player on an International tourny - big difference from the weekly grind of real football.

Osil impressed me, as did Forlan - but remember how shite Forlan was in the PL? :?

Bronco similarly looked a million times better than he was with us.

Pigfucker from Germany was class too. As was Lambe.

Uraguay Centre back Lugano looked impressive. Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Forlan, Suarez, Metersacker and Casillas all had a good tournament.

Forgot Schneider and Uraguay DM Perez too.
Robben looked good but I don't want that ex-Chav diving *word censored* at Arsenal.

Schweinsteiger would absolutely be top of my list....thought he was immense in the german midfield 8)

Neuer would be my goalkeepers choice and I would def take forlan above any other striker in south africa. I suppose mertsacker impressed enough at centre back but I also thought that the japanese pony tailed centre back looked like a good player as well 8)

In midfield I would def think that muller and ozil impressed and honda looked exceptional though I would have my doubts about his suitability to the english league.

Finally, as a left field suggestion, I would take van bommel - I know I will be universally slated for saying this but I cannot get away from the fact that we need a real physical presence in midfield and this guy would bring that. I also believe that players like cesc, nasri and arshavin would be well pleased to have this guy in the same team as them and would be free to do what they do best 8) Anyway isnt a successful team all about getting the chemistry of the team right rather than just throw 11 good players together ? We are missing this type of player :( (by the way I would also accept de jong for this role 8) )

Van Bommell or de Jong would do for me and give us some much needed bite in midfield. Ozil looked technically great and fast too so wouldnt mind the bug eyed little fucker. I thought Neuer looked shaky under pressure so dont understand why he is so popular in this thread

Likewise. Never really rated him that highly as a wide midfielder in the past but in the centre he looked the genuine article, and unless we could find an Essien clone he’d be the ideal type of player for us in that 3rd midfielder role.

A few people mentioning Lugano but I had him in my dream team so I paid attention to him a bit & to be honest he looked pretty suspect to me. :? He was committed & he stood out a bit, partly cos he was captain & partly cos he always had his hand up in the air (usually to claim for offside after losing his man) but there were other Uruguay defenders who looked better than him imo. Really not convinced he’d be that good in the PL, especially for a team like us who are pretty much the polar opposite of Uruguay when it comes to defending as a unit/team. He'd be well & truly exposed.

Thought Ozil was class. Even when he had quiet games he still showed some great touches & intelligent movement/passing, plus he didn't seem to let the early praise go to his head & start believing in his own hype by trying to be the star of the show a la Robben.

Said before the WC we should sign him and some *word censored* laughed at me. Can't for the life of me remember who he was.

The whole Uruguay back four looked good! Very strong unit, Lugano was excellent, forgot to include him in my original post, also Godin the other centre half was good, he is at Villarreal i think, and only 23. Even the two that stood in when they were injured looked impressive. Victorino and Scotti i think they were? Both play for relatively unknown clubs too i think.
