Arsenal - Spurs final

Post by Cus Geezer »

If it happens would you want Arsene to drop the youth policy for League Cup

- considering that this is the first ever final between the two sides, an event long dreamed of and would be a fucking nightmare to lose that

- considering it would be a real boon to end their 8 year drought against us in both our 1st games at New Wembley

- considering that they'll hold a street carnival headlined by Chas and Dave should they win

of course if we still beat them with the kids it would be fucking hilarious wouldn't it?

First of all, we won't meet them in the final because its a fix. FAC Cup/Carling Cup/Milk Cup....we ALWAYS meet spuds in the semi!

Secondly, the injuries/suspensions received in last seasons final v Chavs guarantees that we'll continue to play the reserves even if we make the final. In fact, I'd say that Wenger will make less changes to this policy now than he did last season. Look at last nights team. No first team starters. Last season, I think, at the quarter final stage we might have expected 2 or 3.

We will meet them in the semi privided that the scousers beat the chavs tonight. If so the lure of two local derbies as the semis would be too much for them to resist and a fix is guaranteed. The revenue generated from a two city final would be far greater than a local derby final and could you imagine if Everton and Liverpool both made the final and had to travel to London to play it? The uproar would be incredible.
Let's have them in a semi and deprive them of the chance of playing at the new wembley. Either that or lets have Everton and leave the scousers to beat them.

I think the two semis will be us versus toffees & spuds v chavs as the latter two seem to get drawn against each other in cups quite often.

In answer to your original question I think it would largely depend on our progress in the other competitions in the meantime. If we are still in with a big shout in the 3 main competitions then we should put out our reserves and beat them that way

I agree with augie we have bigger fish to fry in the premiership and the CL.If we get drawn in the semi"s v the Spuds or meet them in the final i can see the same team plus Walcott that played v Blackburn play against them

At the end of the day the carling cup is the least of our priorites.

Kids all the way.
If the kids get us there they should play. It's all about getting experiance I think players like Cesc are what they are cos they went through loosing cup final last time.
Kids have to play whoever we play

It would be unfair to let the youth team play their way to the final only to let them sit on the sidelines and watch the first team play.
