St Totteringhams Day 2007

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

St Totteringhams Day 2007

Post by MK Gould »

A quick glance at the league table has revealed that if we win at WHL on Saturday then we can (albeit unseasonably late!) celebrate St Totteringhams Day. Indeed, if we beat Man City tomorrow night then we would only need a draw against Spuds!!! We have a 10 point lead, and Spuds have 5 games left to lose, sorry, play.

Sorry to put a damper on the proposed celebrations but they might be premature; we currently have 59 points, so a win v Man C and at SHL would take that to 65. Both Bolton and Everton have 54, each with 4 to play, so could reach 66. If they both lose or draw this weekend you may be right; otherwise mathematically we'll need another point in addition to the 2 wins. However, with games v Fulham and Portsmouth it's really down to us now. :D

Ok, so we might not quite be home & dry re-Champions League qualification (although Bolton & Everton have tough run-ins) but thats not the point - St Totteringhams Day is always worth celebrating!! For the newer gooners out there, this day celebrates the point at which Spuds cannot mathmatically overtake us. Last season was obviously the final day of the season, but normally it comes around mid-February......

And what a beautiful day it is!

As MK says, it came a bit late last year and this year, but hopefully next season we can resume normal service and put it back to mid February or even late January!!! 8)
