Barnet

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Almunia is 33yrs old Flappy is 25yrs old, both are horride but one has age to improve and the other doesn't.

In the end, we need a quality number one.

Really? All ive stated is that i was impressed with the way we played, our performance has nothing to do with the opposition, i was pleased with the way WE played. Win 10-0 or lose 10-0 pre-season friendlies are all about getting sharp, getting match fit and preparing yourself for the season. For the first game of this season i thought they performed well.

Agree 1000% - that's why I don't like the Emirates Cup because while it means as little as any other friendlies in theory it is uncomfortable if we don't win it and sets a very unpleasant tone for the season about to start.

But really friendlies are simply getting to work together to develop the game as individuals and as a team and fitness and to avoid injury. Its nice to win rather than lose of course but really that's secondary. Now I didn't get to see the match here so I can't comment any more than that, but if we played well that's good to know whether we won drew or lost.

whether we were playing barca, barnet, or bumbry united, we showed a lot in the first half - frimpong was excellent. he really set the tone and broke up everything in the midfield. extremely impressed with him. jack, back in the center where he belongs, was also top class. his vision, especially on the third goal, is outstanding. arshavin looked in midseason form as well.

koz was fine, though it was tough to get a read on him. JET is big, young, and fast but needs a bit more seasoning. simpson lacks touch but can finish.

the second half was a bore - nasri was sharp, as was chamakh. walcott was okay...

overall a good match. doesnt matter that we were playing barnet - last year we tied, after all. hopefully we can get in a keeper and another defender and be off with it.

It's probably been said on one of the previous 11 pages but i thought Frimpong looked very good in the 1st half (even though it was only Barnet)
