Henry - I want Cesc to stay
[quote="QuartzGooner
There is therefore a possibility that Henry's comments are a PR move intended to smooth any possible transfer.[/quote]
You mean like these I saw in another thread earlier today?
"I reckon the time to sell could well be now, because his World Cup Final assist and huge popularity in Spain are in evidence ...now. "
Yeah I suppose that's possible when you look at it that way

Exactly, what he said was not controversial and only what most fans think anyway.g88ner wrote:Well, I suppose if they have the same agent, then that's going to get the conspiracy theorists, and those who like a story, jumping up like meerkats... but I'm still inclined to believe there's no story here - it's an innocent and genuine comment.QuartzGooner wrote:Henry and Cesc have the same agent.g88ner wrote:Why would he do that though?augie wrote:Not sure there is anything to rave about in that piece - he hasnt told cesc to stay and how could he after flirting with barca for 18 months before he went there himself. If you actually think about what he has said is that while he hopes cesc stays he also understands why cesc wants to go back there as it is his home - most of us fans want him to stay but can understand why he wants to leave tooCould it not be perceived as henry defending cesc's wish to return to barca and making the excuse for him before he leaves ?
- I can't imagine they're that close, so I doubt he'd feel a need to get involved for Cesc's sake - so surely it's just an innocent comment?
All he really said was that he'd like Cesc to stay but would understand if he wanted to go home....
I don't see a reason to spin those comments. Just take them at face value. After all, it's an opinion that I and many others share.

No way of knowing.
He's an Arsenal man, and I'm just not convinced Henry would do that sort of thing - especially when it's almost certain Cesc will be staying anyway.
But either way, what he said was pretty basic stuff really. He hopes he stays but could understand if h wanted to go home - heard that said many times by fellow gooners, and it's an opinion I share too.
But, as you say - no way of knowing.
TH14 is indeed a legend. Now remind me why he left us?TH had to leave us to achieve his ultimate goal at club level to win the CL, If he had stayed at Arsenal would he have won the CL? And that is the reason why Cesc wants to leave. He can see what we all can. This squad is not strong enough to win the CL or the premiership. And with Barcelona signing David Villa they will be even stronger next season,Cesc has won two trophies in the last 2 years and none with Arsenal

Why do you say that? I am not given to falsely accusing anyone of having a hidden agenda just because they don't agree with my views - something you can't really say at this point., can you?
Just the same if you feel that way about that comment then I apologize and ask the moderator on duty to delete the post in question. I have no basis with which I would accuse you of that at this point so if that's how you read that then I retract it and apologize for posting it though that was not my intent and again urge the moderator to delete the quote in question.
Thank you.

I just did not understand your comment, but it did not cause any offence.USMartin wrote:Why do you say that? I am not given to falsely accusing anyone of having a hidden agenda just because they don't agree with my views - something you can't really say at this point., can you?

I do not agree with your views on the board, and I am suspicious of who you really are and your motivations for posting, yes indeed I am.
I am very amazed at your insistence on attacking the board in a repeated and aggressive way, and of your insistence that your petition is some sort of superior protest that no other means of anti takeover protest can possibly hope to compete with.
I stop short of accusing you of 100% being a Takeover Stooge, and have said that on previous posts, because I have no way of proving it either way.
Of course you do. But what if you're wrong about all of it? See its supporters like you who are obviously so fiercely passionate, so absolutely loyal, I really feel for. The reason is because if any of us who doubt the Board at this point are right - even if you'll never admit it - its the supporters like yourself will be most hurt, feel most betrayed, and bear the pain that much longer and harder.merse_10 wrote:^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
fully agree with this.
can only be an ulterior motive for the kind of incessant bullshit spouted over and over.
Of course I'm assuming you mant that comment for me right

You underestimate me IHH
The beginning was a sincere post fully aware of of his feelings and I was being sincere that I understand he may doubt my intentions but I really feel for the supporters like him because they will be the most let down by the club if my views prove correct (that he may not believe that is irrelevant)
AND
The last line was 100% intentional sarcasm
or would this be more deadpan humour

Well, maybe if when we played in the CL final against Barcelona and he sticks one of the clear chances in he had he would have won it at Arsenal ? I think he left because he'd given us 8 great years and had one big move left in him, he is our top scorer and one of the greatest to play for us. So with one final big move left in him I think it was understandable he wanted to move. Nothing to do with winning the CL in my opinion.donaldo wrote:TH14 is indeed a legend. Now remind me why he left us?TH had to leave us to achieve his ultimate goal at club level to win the CL, If he had stayed at Arsenal would he have won the CL? And as for Cesc. The reason he wants to leave, in my opinion, is fcuk all to do with winning the CL/ Cesc wants to go back to Barcelona. Yes he will have a great chance of winning the CL and more there, and yes more so that at Arsenal. But that is NOT the reason to win it. He could go to a number of clubs who probably have a better chance than us to win not only the CL but other major trophies as well. But I do not think that is his reasoning. He wants to go back to Barca to go "home.
Maybe, just maybe he should have given that a bit more thought before he quit them when he was a kid.
Clockendal, I do agree with you that cesc wants to "return home" but do you not agree that this decision has been accelerated by his frustration at where this team and club is going ? Personally I believe cesc would have stayed one or maybe two more years if he was part of a top quality team that was constantly winning or challenging for honours but there is only so long you can tolerate playing alongside shite like diaby, almunia etc
I accept that there is no real proof of this story but I still believe cesc went to wenger seeking reassurances regarding the ambition of the club and was totally underwhelmed thus making his mind up on where his future was
