Normally i would agree with you Donaldo...but not in this case..i wouldn't pay 14m for Jagielka, it's way more than he is worth and 16m is just ridiculous...
Not that i believe the story anyway...does anyone realy believe Wenger would be looking for a 2-3m pound keeper and then be thinking about dropping 14m or more on another centre half..i can't see it..especially as he has just watched numerous little known south american centre halfs at the world cup that looked good and would be far cheaper than 14m and also fit in with Wenger's philosophy of not buying established players and certainly not english ones..

So you actually believe the story??donaldo wrote:Here we go again wrangling over the odd £2m.Just like Alonso two years ago.FFS if we want him just buy him. Some times you have to pay over the odds to get what you want. And Wenger its our money through ticket sales not yours so spend the fucking money
You really think we've offered £14m for Jagielka, and debating whether to up it to £16m????
Donaldo... seriously, I thought more of you than this!

Quite frankly, I'd be staggered if he signs for that sort of money.

I raised my eyebrows at that report too, in a Roger Moore Spitting Image puppet kind of way.g88ner wrote:So you actually believe the story??donaldo wrote:Here we go again wrangling over the odd £2m.Just like Alonso two years ago.FFS if we want him just buy him. Some times you have to pay over the odds to get what you want. And Wenger its our money through ticket sales not yours so spend the fucking money

I also reckon that Alonso story was nonsense.

The story is now £10million and a race between us and Spurs! TBH I have no idea whether he is any good but considering the amount of young players we already have I would prefer AW to spend that kind of money on a established player not 'potential'. A word which is quickly becoming the bane of my life!!!merson_is_god wrote:8 million apparently for Wickham. New Walnut in my opinion, looks good in the lower leagues but shit on the prem and in Europe!

Arsene Wenger has FINALLY admitted there is no Number 1 Goalkeeper at Arsenal at present. Something we have known since Jens had his (very poor by his standards) last season with us.
So, the present goalkeeping options are:
Almunia (The Hapless and Hopeless Waiter) - We will never win anything while he's between the sticks, surely even he knows he is loathed by us Gooners
Fabianski (aka: Flappy) Seems to think that everything that Hapless Al does, he must also do, his confidence is non-existent, maybe it would be better to just have him 'put down' to save him and us any more sleepless nights and pain.
Mannone - Has shown good form many times but had a disastrous game against w.ham(?).....and so needs to be kept away from Hapless All & Flappy or he may pick up their knack of being useless
Szczesny - Has ALL the attributes to be as good as seaman at his peak, he's big 6' 5" - likes to take command in (his) penalty area (going for the ball in crosses and other situations, is fearless, but needs experience at Prem level....
So AW says he is 'not really' interested in Schwartzer...but who else is Good Enough (for a top four side who desperately need to be champions again) is at an age where they can hold the No 1 spot with authority etc till Szczesny can take the reigns (if he can! - which at the moment seems possible) and AW is willing to pay for?
Or is it not just down to the Goalkeepers we have on our books, but The Goalkeeping Coaching staff???? - Apparently Bob Wilson's advice was ignored..when it came to buying a goalie...an AW went in for Hapless Al, Seaman was ignored when offering his services as a Goalkeeping Coach...
And Why? Oh! Why? didn't we buy Shay Given (for what now seems like the poultry sum of £6 million)
Should we go in for Joe Hart? - the best new goalkeeping talent to emerge in the prem for ages.....and thwart Szczesny 's chances??
One thing is for sure WE DESPERATELY NEED A "PROPER" GOALIE ...and if AW cannot locate the right individual AND splash the cash we are F*cked for yet another season or three.

Wenger needs to make a bid for joe hart and when it is turned down, and it will be turned down, he needs to leak the story from "a source" saying that man shitty have told joe hart that he will be their number 1 next season. This will I'm sure piss shay given off no end and I am sure he wont want to stay there as a number 2 so we move in and sign him instead. This will allow us to buy a quality keeper but at an age that will allow wenger to continue his "dont kill the youth" policy (
) cos given would probably only have another 2 or 3 seasons left at this level and by then hopefully our young polish keeper will be ready to be our number 1. Slightly coniving plan I know but who cares

Arsenal have had a £14million bid for Everton’s Phil Jagielka turned down.
The England international, 27, has recovered from a serious knee ligament and is seen by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger as the experienced centre-back to steady his defence.
But Everton manager David Moyes is not prepared to lose a key man, already aware that he may have a problem in hanging onto midfielder Mikel Arteta given Manchester City’s efforts to sign him.
However, Arsenal are set to test Everton’s resolve by tabling a revised bid of £16m.
