ATMOSPHERE V CHELSEA

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I thought it was pretty good!

The second half was quieter in my opinion but I think that was down to nerves and being on the edge of your seat!

SPOT ON GUS.

SOMETIMES THE NERVES DO TAKE OVER, ESPECIALLY IN THE BIG MATCHES WHICH WE ARE DESPARATE TO WIN.

MY FAVOURITE EXCHANGE WITH THE CHELSEA FANS WAS WHEN IN RESPONSE TO THEIR TAUNT OF "NEW GROUND, SAME ATMOSPHERE" WE SANG "YOUR GROUND'S TOO BIG FOR YOU!!" 8)

I said most fans Wayno. there are always the usual crunts who will leave even though we were only 1-0 up in one of the biggest games of the season. If you couldn"t stay till the end yesterday you never will.

^^ assuming they meant 'still better than ours'...can be the only explanation. Good response from the boys though..
On tele the 1st half sounded as loud and consistent as I've heard in this new ground, 2nd half a bit quieter for the obvious reasons but I think the Grove really came of age last night, genuinely hostile and loud..
Lets keep it up on Saturday, we might hate Ashley, but this is the ****, and more of the same is required..

I am just above the tunnel where the players come out and the look on Terry's face as he trudged off.........

I am sure he was genuinely shocked at how hostile we was to them!

Fucking great!

:P

The atmosphere sounded great on TV; but I think keeping this kind of atmosphere for matches against teams like Wigan, Fulham and Derby will be hard. This match’s atmosphere was special because of:

A key match against title-rivals
We hadn’t beaten our London rivals for a long time (by our standards)
Cahsley returning

I’d love our stadium to always have this kind of atmosphere. It was also intimidating as I saw by Cashley’s shell-shocked face at times :D
