Early Leavers: What is there to debate? (18/4)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Early Leavers: What is there to debate? (18/4)

Post by gooner.ed »

usual thread starter... i wonder if we will still be running articles on this in ten years' time. i sincerely hope not. by the way, here's an idea. why don't we start playing 'exodus' by bob marley over the PA ten minutes from the end. followed by 'don't leave me this way' by harold melvin and the bluenotes - thanks to phil, my neighbour at last night's game for that last suggestion

Last night at the Man City game it was the worst I've ever seen it. By the final whistle it looked like there were only about 30,000 left in the ground. I'm sure that the transport has something to do with it, especially on a weekday, but it is getting to be ridiculous.
I really don't see the point of missing the end of the first half, the start of the second and the end of the game. Can someone who does leave early please explain?

I hate early leavers. And I also hate the people who sit there like mice for 95 minutes. Sometimes I wish we were a northern Club with a load of working class northern monkeys cheering us on. Okay that might not strictly be true.

I think we should have seat fillers like they do at the Oscars. No?

In an attempt to improve the atmosphere I think we should have a song which we all sing at the start of the game. Like Liverpooh, Celtic, Sheffield United, Leeds & Birmingham, to name a few do.

I'd also like to see flags being allowed in. We should have 3 or 4 Junior Gunners behind each goal waving large flags at the start of the game and at regular intervals during the game. You can see this at Anfield and in the Camp Nou, particularly behind the goal to the right of the tv cameras. I think this might be the Junior Barca section.

The Chavs gave out flags some time ago and they're still using them. Scarves being held and waved about our heads may also help.

Basically our support is crap.

Last night was nothing short of a disgrace. There were people leaving with 9 mins left in my block.

You wouldn't see this at any other club so why Arsenal. Another thing as well, why are people so scared of raising their voices at the Arsenal?

I saw a few unfamiliar faces in my section of the ground last night also, mostly suits who clearly have no idea of the word 'support' they weren't even paying attention to the game.

Fucking pisses me off no end, can you imagine how amazing it would be if for once every single fan raised their voice, all 60,000! Cashburden would be so much more intimidating for the opposition.

Sort it out Gooners!

I"m sorry to say even some of the singing section left early. The one"s that remained started singing "loyal supporters",too true. If even some the singing section start leaving early what chance have we got trying to make the prawnies stay till the end. The players had won a vital 3 points to see us go into third place and they see the ground half empty at full time. Its now beyond a joke the club has to do something next season to put an end to this. I wouldn"t open the gates till the final whistle, full stop. When you purchase a match or season ticket you should be told you will not be allowed to leave until the game is over. Its as simple as that. Its like the smoking ban after a while people will have to change there habits[/quote]
