HOW DOES THE NEW FA RULES AFFECT US

Post by REB »

i keep reading conflicting reports on this new squad of 25 with so many home grown players so my question is does anyone have a definite answer on how it affects us :?:

so far the newspapers and ssn have gave out different information so not sure where we stand.

From what I understand Reb, after the transfer window closes, the manager has to submit his team of 25 players, of which 8 must be "home grown". This 8 can be made up of English or Welsh players and any other nationality if they were signed for an English/Welsh club for more than 3 years before their 21 birthday. The balance can be made up of anyone and the manager can use any amount of under 21 players at the club. If injuries occur, he cannot use anyone else unless in exceptional circumstances eg. the first three choice goalkeepers are injured.

Someone (I think Boomer) had a link up here yesterday regarding this, but I can't remember on which thread.

i think because of our policy to bring kids over and develop them we are better placed than any of the othe rbig clubs in the PL.

the rul as i understand states that players under 21 yr old and have been at the club for 3 years do not count against the 25 man quota. so i'm guessing we have a fair few of the,

clichy
gibbs
djourou?
denilson
bendtner
song
walcott
vela?
Wilshire
ramsey
diaby?

i imagine this leaves us with a fair few places in our 25 man quota!!

The new rules state:

* If the team name begins with A and ends with L then the club shall only be allowed one centre half of any note.

* If the team name begins with A and ends with L then the club shall have a group of goalkeepers whose combined ability must not exceed Jimmy Tarbucks windsurfing skills.

Easy!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 858634.stm
- Clubs register a squad of up to 25 players, which must include at least eight 'home-grown' players, at the end of each transfer window.

- Home-grown players do not have to be English; home-grown players are defined as those who "irrespective of nationality or age, have been affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three seasons or 36 months prior to 21st birthday"

- Clubs can supplement squad with unlimited number of players under the age of 21.

- Changes can be made only during transfer windows, although in exceptional circumstances (eg goalkeeping injury crisis) moves could be allowed.

- Players loaned to Football League clubs cannot be replaced, but can regain their spot on return to parent club.

- Rules apply only to Premier League matches, not European, FA Cup or League Cup action.

- First deadline is 1700 BST on 1 September (24 hours after end of August transfer window).
I doubt we will have any problems whatsoever meeting the requirents. Most of our 'foreign players' have played with us for more thn 3 years so we are safe

They have to have been with us 3 years before their 21st birthday to be classed as home grown so for example, rosicky has been with us for 3 years but still classed as a foreign player. We should be ok though as we only sign 15 years olds!!!!! :banghead: :banghead:

I have been wondering why English and Welsh but not Scottish or Northern Irish? From what I have read it should not affect Arsenal in the league.

I like the submission method, an online form that tells them if the club submits to many unhomegrown players. Hopefully all the clubs can work out their own squads without help.
The system will be simple enough to administer. Clubs will register their players via an online form which automatically flags up if they have named too many players who do not qualify as Home-Grown.

Probably just that;

1) there’s Welsh teams in the English football league

2) “Walesâ€

I did some calculations on this the other day:

We have 13 players 'over-21' who are not home-grown (you are allowed 17)

Almunia, Diaby, Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Rosicky, Nasri, van Persie, Song, Fabianski, Arshavin, Eboue, Chamakh

We have seven homegrown platers over the age of 21:

Fabregas, Denilson, Djourou, Clichy, Mannone, Simpson, Bendtner

That gets us up to 20 players (out of 25 allowed). We wouldnt even need to register any more though, because everyone else is in the under-21 category, which can be added at any time.
