EMIRATES CUP THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

As for Jack

strong in the tackle, imaginative, quick, can beat a player, direct, great attitude...obviously a lot to learn but he is only 9 or something

the only yoof i've seen in the first 11, bar Ramsay, who looks like he has what it takes

i'd give him a lot more play time this season

once again ONLY MY OPINION

two things I'd like to point out as well re Jack

doesn't normally play centre mid like that and today was up against two toughies in Flamini and Gattuso

thought he more than handled himself in an unfamilar role

Agree with most of your points but is there any chance of you putting them all together in one post instead of a stream of them one after the other

2. Unlike others I felt wilshire and frimpong did not look ready for the step up :o Young jack lost possession numerous times trying to be too fancy on the ball and frimpong looked unsure in possession and appeared to have a vendetta against seedorf who he appeared to be fouling every two minutes

AGREED.

3. I thought our moroccan striker looked more lively and faster off the mark than bendtner though that certainly wouldnt be hard

4. Set piece defending shit. Again. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

5. Arshavin is a little genius, rosicky showed some nice touches, gibbs did well but nasri has been our best performer to date in the pre-season :o I will also add to that by saying for the record that I do not want him moved into cesc's position if our skipper departs.
Agreed to most of that.

Would add that we looked less defensively cohesive when Frimpong went off but he seemed to struggle today though was outnumbered in the centre.

Thought Koscielny was good tackler and competitive for such a skinny man.

Djourou looked awful in central midfield, a position I wanted to see him try for two years!

Chamakh drops deep and creates opportunities for others, looks a class above Bendtner.

selsdon i think your points are normally well put, but you had a flair for the negative for this match and especially regarding chamakh bizarrely. i am not sure what more he could have done. he held the ball up repeatedly with some sublime passes to arshavin and nasri creating chances. he ran his socks off and broke up some plays in the back, even forcing some mis-kicks by yepes and the like. finally, he scored in his one opportunity. i saw him give the ball away about once. how exactly is that anything like bendtner?

love jack. think he will be fantastic. went for the meg a bit too often today, needed to dribble less. still gave the ball away less while doing more than mozart, who hit the same ball to no one with the outside of his foot about 4 times - hoping he can get more into form.

kos was excellent and the goal was not his fault - fabianski was at sea. if anyone's, it was tv5's man. though putting in djourou and randall only spurred on disaster.

I am not a goalkeeper, only played in that position once, but I'll always remember in that position, when a ball comes in either from a cross or free kick, if that same ball comes in around or beyond the penalty spot, as a goalkeeper, attempt to catch the ball and at it's highest point. (wiping everything or everyone who's in your way, when doing that)

DON'T just stay, rooted on your fucking line, with your mouth wide open, looking like a fucking mong, and then look like a total tosser, watching that same ball, hit the net.

Flappy, if your reading this post, do yourself a fucking favour, and fuck right off, you useless, fucking *word censored*.

Selsdon, keep up the good work on your posts, they're usually 100pct spot on the money.

But I sometimes read a post, and don't feel the need to reply, what if he edits one of these posts, the edit may get missed, and may need a reply?? :? :?

Personaly I'll include an edit
[edit] Like this for example.
Still get your point but it would save Selsdon about 10 post on after thoughts.
