John Hartson calims that Jack Wilshere is like Paul Scholes after his performances over the weekend and that awesome volley that crashed against the bar yesterday.

But is big John right in making this comparison?

If Jack has a career half as good as Scholes there will be many happy Gooners. But he will probably be joining Cesc at the Camp Nou in three years time

The idea of Jack being compared to that dirty c**ty bastard is just so unacceptable to me on general principle I would not acknowledge it even if he were literally a clone from a laboratory of that f**k face

If starts going around fouling all and sundry in big matches, breaking up attacks through foul play, jumping into tackles with two feet, all whilst escaping even a talking to, let alone a booking then he might well be compared to him. As it is, Jack is rare for an English player, he seems to have a bit of technical ability.

Are you suggesting that Scholes doesn't have technical ability  if you are you must have been watching a different Paul Scholes for the last dozen or so years...
If Jack turns out to be anywhere near as good as Scholes has been he will be doing all right.
As for Hartsons comment, i don't think you can compare them, yet...Scholes is past his best now but at his peak he played the same game as Cesc he dictated play from the middle. He stroked the ball around short, long, intricate and simple he had great vision he could shoot and was a great finisher when given the chance.
Jack appears to have all the attributes of both Cesc and Scholes but there is a big leap from having the attributes and pulling the strings from the middle of the park week in week out at the highest level. Only time and the opportunity to do so will prove if he has what Scholes had, he certainly hasn't proved to be of that calibre yet ...

Agree with Bergkamp Genius. Although to be fair, I think Hartson said he's got a bit of Paul Scholes in him or he hit that shot like Paul Scholes used to, and I don't think he was making a direct comparison. As Donaldo and BG have said, if Wilshere turns out to be any where as good a player as Scholes was, he'll be one hell of a player!!

I really think Jack has the ability to do so, and become as good if not better. And if some of his tackles are anything to go by, he might have a bit of Scholes' nasty side to him as well!!. 8)

No, mate. I'm not saying Scholes had no technical ability, I'm just making a point that Jack Wilshere appears to be a lot more comfortable on the ball than other English players of recent years. Scholes, apart from the fouling and getting away with it was a class act in his younger years and one of the few home-grown English players that could match the overseas players for ability, vision and accuracy. Shame he was a Man Utd player, really.

He's got terrific technical ability, true. But so what. He's still a MASSIVE c**t and always will be. I'd hate with Jack to be compared with that f**ker in ANY way really.

Though it would be funny if he got way with the same dirty crap Scholes does every time and the comms treated it in the same lightharted manner when he broke some manc's leg - "oh that's just wee Jackie Wilshere doing what he does. What a naughty boy hahahaha........That's jack being jack..." Imagine how their lot woiuld react

Shocking tackler, though!

In that respect, he's just like Scholes!

If he makes the full england team with gibbs (and mabye walcott) they will be allowed to swear at the ref beat the crap out of people on the pitch and in pubs, and get away with it.

thats why england players cost more

BTW i think he could be a great number 10 in a few years 8)
