THEO
Another infuriating player. The season before last I felt he was starting to come on. Last season he was injured for most of it and piss poor at the end of it. I think this his last season to make an impression and hopefully his exclusion from the England squad will act as a bit of a kick up the backside.
Never really felt he was striker material as he's not a natural finisher. My seven year old nephew loves him (and has done since he was 4) so for his sake I hope he comes good this year.
Lot of players (and indeed the manager) have something to prove this year. If this season is another disappointment I think it's time for a new broom next year.

can see him playin for villa.we dont play those diagonal ball into the channels that he gets on to.
seriously,if theo's 1st touch was a shot i think he'd be ok but when he gets the ball mid-way inside the opppo's half he doesnt know what to do but can finish instinctively so play him on the last man and give him something to chase.
either that or sell him to uk athletics

If you want to mention one Arsenal player (other than Cesc ) to inspire a
lively fan debate , well Theo is your man .
Where two seasons ago the stadium rose in anticipation of a possible game
changing moment , last year there was only resignation at yet another dead end run or woeful cross . At present ,Walcott is an Athlete trapped in a footballers body and the ability to run at extreme pace and deliver is a skill that few players world wide can boast of . But when he gets it right e.g Anfield / CL , it's poetry in motion . Players with that much pace scare the bejasus out of defenders so just having him on the bench is a useful option .
Remember that Catalan shower had him down as the danger man in the
CL last season . They genuinely were bricking it . Our domestic league opponents however , knew how to play him . How many games did we see him been doubled up on and if he did not go down a cul de sac was forced back inside and invariably the ball was channeled back into the middle wheren through lack of options was played to Bendtners / Vela etc feet with no one coming from midfield (Cesc and occasionally Nasri excepted) and the ball being swallowed up by the opposition .
Fine having the width of the Nou Camp to stretch the legs but when you
have Mass Ranks who take no prisoners , a brain has to complement
his cheetah like speed . There's already one or two teams reducing pitch
size for next season so its imperative his learning curve starts to embrace
time spent in the company of Henry .
Personally i think he's worth persevering with for another year . I feel
the World cup snub could work in our favour with his once 'Prodigy'
status well consigned to the bin and a renewed focused appetite for the
game coupled with a developing aspect to his own game could prove dividends .

Impact sub at best. Not only has TheoTheo got a poor finish, poor touch and dodgy dribbling "skills", he has no brain whatsoever. He doesn't know when to pass, when to take on the defender or when to cross. His only real use at present is putting him on to scare less than pacey full backs but how much longer will that continue before he is found out for the fairly average player he is?
It's a real shame but I honestly don't think the lad will ever be top level.

I have no worries about his ambition to be a decent player, and he runs hard. I think the look on his face would be one of frustration and trying to keep focussed, rather than any lack of passion. This is a kid who had two busted shoulders, put in a lot of physio work and rehab work in the gym to return to the team, that tells me he has passion for the club.Bring Back Pires wrote:The only thing that frustrates me more than his abysmal crosses is his apparent lack of passion.
A cross is only as good as the person it's played to. You can't just whip the ball in to the penalty-spot area everytime if nobody's making the run.
As for the crosses, you are right, up to a point. Not exscusing crosses or passes that go nowhere near a team mate, but as a team we have had a serious problem for three seasons, of players not getting into the box.
The turbo boost forward runs of Henry, Ljungberg and Pires no longer exist, instead we get the odd one from Arshavin, and when RvP is fit he is at least usually lurking in a goal scoring position.

2. for the saints 4 goals 21 games (says a lot)
3. cannot cross a ball (witnessed by the press in training for the world cup and Arsenal fans for all the time he's been here)
4. the most over hyped player at Arsenal for many a year
5. best performances against tired teams (liverfool and barca)
6. no bottle
7. no tricks
8 is very fast but so is usin bolt (and we won't be signing him)
9. £65,000 a week for little in return
10. an arrogant little prick (got a mate to ring the fa as he could not belive his was not selected)
11. so far up his own arse with his "celebrity" status (buying your child bird a ferrari was crass to say the least as she was at college)
