Football Violence

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Football Violence

Post by SPUDMASHER »

Does anybody remember the bad old days of football violence. I know you still get the occasional bit here and there but thank God it is largely a thing of the past. For those of you with a sense of nostalgia, and for those with no idea of what it was like, have a look here and refresh your memory.

Interesting to see the first team named on a flag!!!!!

What are you lot like. Just revert back to 1970/80's mode. Don't wear colours and stick like glue to the old bill. I know its not a nice place to go, especially by today's standards. But is it like going to West Ham, Millwall or Cardiff 25 years ago? NO!! Just be thankful you don't have to put up with that shit every week!!

I thought the video was a little too gratuitous.... There are some great books on the subject though. Hard to imagine a time when EVERY match had trouble. When away fans at Highbury were put in the middle of the clock end - and had to run the gauntlet just to take up their place on the terrace.

You will be fine there mate. Sing loud and proud and mingle into main crowd as quickly as possible afterwards rather than hugging the wall by the away exit, as this corner is where they (the knuckle draggers) will congregate!

If anyone has spare tix then please left me know... been let down on 2

It has not happened the last few times but it has before been the case where you have ended up blocked in between a line of police and a line of idiots after us all throwing coins and picking fights.
