THE PROJOE TOTALLY POINTLESS TRANSFER RUMOUR THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

No thought process/ in terms of need ? We need a CB, he's bought one and reportedly looking at others. We needed a Centre forward, we aquired Chamakh!!
As for team chemistry, we have a team that play football in such a way that it is admired around the world ( but not by you ! ).
Are you Wenger in disguise? :banghead:

Admired by Bolton,Blackburn,Wigan and Drogba so they can bully the fuck out of us.

Hmmm.... it's not only the goalkeeper(s) and the centre backs who should be commanding at set pieces, but it's also the job of the defensive midfield players.

I thonk we've sorely missed Gilberto in these situations, as he was vastly underrated in the air, and he used to head clear numerous balls that were put into our box from set pieces.

Good point about Bert. But even when he was around, and Jens was in goal, we were suspect from set-pieces. More so even than having the right individual players we really need some serious defensive coaching, and to actually work on these sort of things in training in the 1st place. From memory Pato’s goal the other day was a good ball into the box but somehow we ended up with everyone running back towards our own goal. What sort of starting position did we take up? It’s one thing taking a high(ish) line in that situation so as not to allow the opposition to crowd the keeper but if he’s not gonna take advantage & come for the ball anyway then what’s the point. Just leaves a massive no-man’s land for them to attack & us to back-pedal into.

Given a choice between say this Bosnian guy I've never even heard of + Bould or Keown deployed as defensive coach or someone more proven like Mertesacker but with no change to the current training regime/set-up I think I'd probably go for the first option.

Seriously you mans will love him. Spahic is a defender's defender if you know what I mean, and is incredibly passionate.

If you think Vermaelen is 'hard', wait till you watch this guy.

On the bright side, it could mean we'll be winning the proper trophies again! :barscarf:
