Never actually realised...

What a season. So many awesome goals. Awesome header on 30secs. and what a goal to end with.

Sadly, I had no interest whatsoever in football at this time, letalone Arsenal.

bollocks to now and then comparisons. a team with that much quality comes along once in a blue moon. the equivalent today is like having messi, xavi, villa and ronaldo all in the same team.

ljungberg, pires, vieira, bergkamp and henry were almost too good for one side. i'm a firm believer that arsenal fans have been spoilt rotten the past 10 years :lol:

Seriously our first eleven now when fully healthy excepting maybe in goal is NOT a bad one at all its damned good when they are healthy.

The real problem is in 2001-2002 we had as many if not more injuries than this past season to key players but as you see above we had a tiny bit more money invested in the squad as a whole and made sure we had true first 11 Arsenal quality talent on the bench as well as on the pitch. In fact let me add one or two more

NOW................THEN
SILVESTRE......KEOWN
DIABY.............PARLOUR
FABIANSKI.......TAYLOR

And that is the difference between being able to win the League and being a bit short. Hell in 2002 we WON THE LEAGUE at Old Trafford, home of the three time defending Premiership champs WITHOUT Henry Pires Adams or Bergkamp and we WON the match and kept a clean sheet as well to do it.

This year no Fabregas, no Song, No VanPersie, home to a team that finished seventh or eigthh and we already beat 6-1 on their ground and we had to come from behind twice to salvage a draw.

There is no doubt the lack of depth is the issue and that many or most even nearly all of today's bench and squad players never would have gotten near the practice ground at Arsenal then.
