How long before we re-sign Gallas??

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

How long before we re-sign Gallas??

Post by tel »

Call me cynical but how long will it be before he rejoins us? Nobody wants him as he's priced himself out of a move and I feel it's only a matter of time before he's paraded in front of us and lauded by Le Boss as great new signing.

I hope I'm wrong but it fits in with the general strategy of finishing 4th and spending fuck all. :banghead:

I rated Gallas and was sad to see him go, where has he gone btw?

It's often said he was a bad influence in the dressing room but fuck me that dressing room is so pampered not bowing down to Wenger when he walks in is probably considered treacherous.

I hope that man never puts on an Arsenal shirt ever again.

I was never convinced of Gallas and the fact he was a Chav for me made my mind clear.

The arrogance and petulance he showed on a regular basis suggested to me that he was only interested in his bank balance and not the football.

As a leader he was terrible, the Eduardo leg break game summed that up for me. Here we see an awful injury occur and yet he let it affect him more than others, the fact the captain sat at the end of the game on the pitch sulking again was not for me. Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira even TH14 would never have allowed the personal feeling they might have had affect their leadership. We lost the title that year in many respects due to the actions of that fateful day in Birmingham.

One other thing that pissed me off about WG was that he insisted on wearing the so called 'star' shirt and the number 10 at that....it made me think that the guy had a hold on the club that for me was not acceptable...i hated the fact he wore that shirt....good to see RvP come out with his comments this week when given that number and quiet rightly so.

To add that one of my favourite players Kolo Toure left for pastures new alledgedly because of the changing room arguments with WG sums it all up.

Arsene Wenger should NOT even think about re-signing that man....and i for one rue the day he signed for us....because NOTHING ever went right for Arsenal Football Club that day...August 31st 2006

Here's to you Tel

because on Friday I was thinking just the same. His wages have ensured no one is prepared to bite the bullet so he is still looking.

And believe you me, we could do a lot worse. And I say that as a distinct non Gallas 'fan'.

This is the problem Rob, we've forced ourselves into a corner of not fixing our problems at the end of last season so that re-signing Gallas is now an improvement on what we already have. Like you I don't want him back either.

Sammy, top post, I agree with all of it especially the no.10 shirt.

I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling about this.

On newsnow today it says he might be going for Fenerbache for 3 million a year, not sure if that's Euro or GBP. Although the rumours last week said he was going to Birmingham!

It really shows the double-edged sword of becoming a free agent - the world cup obviously damaged Gallas' reputation even further. What were his negotiations with us before then? £80,000 a week?

FWIW, I would take him back if he was happy to sign for a year.

I would rather we signed no one than re-signed Gallas. :?

FFS one of the highlights of my summer was getting rid of that sulky twat!
