Speaking as a non-Jewish but (for the most part) pro-Israel person.......

..I found the link quite moving.

On the other hand, I don't see the need for totally political PR stuff to appear on here.

Israel has suffered plenty. So have their sworn enemies. And so have innocent people of all faiths and political persuasions. Whose only crime was to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sami, did you know, for example, that when Israel turfed the PLO out of Beirut they used phosphorus shells? Nasty horrible stuff. Bad enough in grenades. But these were great big artillery rounds.

No country is totally blameless for the suffering of humanity.

my paternal grandmother was jewish, but no one else in my family, if that makes any difference to what im about to write, (i dont think so)

but israel does annoy me, the way the nation acts and treats the palestinians with these illegal occupations and the fact that it thinks its above international law and protocol.

im no 'arab lover' but the way the plaestinians are treated is shocking...sure they give it back but its cannons vs peashooter stuff.

how would any of us like it, if after the world war we were rmoved from our country and forced to the margins so a new state could be set up on what was previously our homes, and we were then treated as 2nd class citizens in what had been our home for 500 years

sure the jewish people have been hammered throughout the course of history, but the actions of israel does not do its peoples any favours in garnering sympathy from the rest of the world, imo.

tin hat on.....

i am slightly worried....! buts its just a laymans opinion from the limited knowledge i have and the history minor i took.

my take on history could be completely wrong, but it doesnt excuse the actions of the state.

Locking this - for reasons obvious to anyone that's been on here when these sorts of threads have been initiated in the past. Namely, that no good and only parochial arguments will come out of it!! If you want serious geo-political debate, there are plenty of other websites you can visit

Sorry.
