I thought in the first half they looked about as crap as they did last season. Obviously the Cole red card enforced the siege mentality that saw them come out fighting & once they scored we were visibly rocked as we usually are when we go behind. That just seemed to give Liverpool more confidence to push on. We offered little in response and were gifted a lucky equaliser although Chamakh did well to force the error from Reina.

I'd beg to differ. We've played worse than that, and we've historically not got many points from Anfield.
True .
We've played better and got nothing.
Nothing worse than a defeat on opening day . Scouters looked a lot better
than they did for most of last season .
For us , onwards and hopefully upwards .
Agreed its a valuable point, but we made it so easy for liverpool today. Too slow to attack with no end product, possesion football means nothing with no goal threat. Were always gonna concede and
If we cant muster chances we'll lose. Same old same old!

Oh and im a rose tinter too

northbankbren wrote:Today was a dissapointing start, what happened to us at half time??? We came out as wee seem to do so often at the start of the second half...half asleep.

We managed to pull off a lucky draw, but we seem to fall apart whenever we go behind...there is no real character out their to lead (thats going over old ground though).

Arshavin - For a man with no world cup, looked off the pace, far to relaxed in his style.

Nasri - Looked the most lively of the midfeild, pretty good start.

Clichy has got me a bit worried, id actually give gibbs a go against blackpool.

Sagna he made good forward runs, but his crossing was shocking.

Kochelney - good first game, harsh red card think he probaby needs to work on his upper body strength.

Rosicky looked really lively when he came on and his passing is far more cretive than diaby's.

Chamackh i thought was very dissapointing today. And saw very little that would make him better that say...bentdner.

The one real positive to come away from todays game is almunia's performace. This must highlight he isnt good enough.....anyone just see Merson rip into him on sky sports???....said what we all know unless we get a new keeper we'll never win the league.
I'd hold off Gibbs for this week - the last thing we need is him getting skinned by Blackpool, especially since the last time we really saw him was that semi against ManU. Plus Blackpool showed - even against Wigan - that taking them lightly is a dangerous proposition, and frankly we need to beat them, period, right now, simply because we don't want to fall four behind or further staright away.

Disagree just a bit on Chamakh - not a brilliant debut at all but in all honesty while Nic gets late goals too, he doesn't get or play a role in creating that one because he likely gives up on attcking that ball straight away which is his real problem he could get a lot more goals except he doesn't chase what looks a lost cause in the area ever.

Great post - it is a good point really but when you look at how we actually played its very worrying because it doesn't bode well for future matches really if it continues to any extent. I don't think any contender for the title or just the top four will be especially worried by anything they saw from us today.

hard to watch, no end product, joe coles a wanker, liverpool are still shite

almunia is a *word censored* simple as, should have been shipped out after 2006 champions league final

arshavin is the laziest most frustrating player in the world, he offered nothing today

diaby is a basketball player

chamakh didnt get much service

walcott is a 100m sprinter

rosicky done very well when he came on (hope it continues)

kosceilny looked really good

we still need a goalkeeper and a centre back and if wenger doesnt bring them in this is gonna be a long season

You reckon? I've been really negative about us this summer, but can definitely recognise that we certainly didn't deserve to lose this game. We bossed the first half with 60% possesion (despite minimal chances), and the goal was very much against the run of play. Did Liverpool have more than once chance after their goal? I think we very much deserved the point.
I have not problem with the first half, but to lack control of the game when the opposition is down to 10men is shocking. Constantly losing the ball with little pressure on us, bad passing, Diaby fucking around.

FFS we dint create a decent chance for long stretches of the 2nd half and we think our attack is great.

It says alot when people moan about Cesc not playing, as that just shows a lack of confidence in what we have and rightly so.
Playing against 10 men is notoriously hard (for a reason that I'll never quite understand). Especially when the side you're playing against is at home.

Diaby was the fucking pits though, and I'm glad that most people on here have noticed. His passing was an absolute shambles.

Most importantly for me, we were 'in the game'. I've seen us play at Anfield many times in the past where we've been completely dominated and not allowed to play our usual football. Although we weren't great offensively today, at least we took it to them and kept on pressing.

A draw at Anfield is a good result, in my opinion.

Very lucky result. We were poor. When they went down to 10 men they had two banks of four and let us have the ball because they knew we would do fuck all with it.We are too predictable.Reina gifted us a point

Almunia-Same useless *word censored*.Not only the goal but what about his flapping at the corner in the first half. And Wenger makes him captain :banghead:

Kos-Yes did ok.But Liverpool played one up front and that was Ngog

Diaby- Lazy fucker.how does he get a game? The same can be said of Eboue

Chamakh- needs to put himself about.waited for things to happen

Arshavin-Had a shocker,didnt seem interested

A new keeper must start on saturday

Oddly,

I thought Liverpool going down to 10 worked against us, when it was 11 vs 11 we had an open game and often found space going into the final third..

Second half, Liverpool got a smash n grab goal (result of poor play from us) and held onto it for dear life..

Had it been 22 players on the pitch at the end, I reckon we would be walking away with all three points..

Have to agree with this. Everytime a team goes down to 10 men or just park the bus cos they are shit we can never chisel our way through and score. We need open played games to be at our best and everyone knows this. Therefore we are fucked for another season unless we can get those crosses in to Chamakh

Agree with all of that. A draw was a fair result under the circumstances but 3 months on from last season all of our problems still exist and haven't been addressed.

That's the thing for me - we still haven't addressed the old problems.

A point at anfield is a good result, even under the circumstances, but that doesn't escape the fact that wenger STILL hasn't sorted out the issues every man and his dog knows exists in arsenal.

Until those problems are sorted - goalkeeper who can catch, dominent centre back and a powerful defensive midfielder - we're going to get no closer to winning the league.

That's the most frustrating thing and someone needs to confront wenger about it. All these so called journos ask these tippy-tappy questions. Someone should've asked him straight up what he thought of Almunia's performance and then ask why he was beaten at his near post.

Someone should ask what he thought of Diaby even though he kept running until he loses the ball.

Someone should also ask what the fuck he's going to do about it. Before we get that, this club wont move forward. Trouble is, all your sp*rs, citehs and to an extent villas are moving forward and if we're not careful they'll be passing us...

I would have taken a draw before the match, I wouldn't have taken a draw after the red card, and I would again, take a draw after we were trailing.. So not a bad result for the circumstances.

A win, would have given us a huge lift, though..

Don't forget that our two best players - Fabregas and Van Persie - didn't start the game. I'm confident for the future.
