They wont make any difference unless we buy a keeper and a CB.Today told us nothing we didnt know before. We will dominate games but continue to give away soft goals.Bring Back Pires wrote:Don't forget that our two best players - Fabregas and Van Persie - didn't start the game. It was like there had been no summer break at all!!
We all know what Coco Almunia is like, he confirmed all the fears yet again today on several occasions. He and Flappy will cost us a minimum 5 wins this season, that will definitely cost us any chance of the title and may cost us a CL place.
Arshavin looks fat (for a professional footballer). It looks to me like he's been pigging out all summer and started running again last week. Even HE said he was playing awful for Russia a few days back so why was he playing?
Diaby........same old same old..........shit!
Kos looked ok but wasn't really playing against anyone so we've learnt very little about him today.
Our crossing and dead balls were pretty awful most of the time, as usual.
Overall, a point is an ok result.
One things for sure, Chelsea and Man U will have watched that game and thought 'Neither of those two will be anywhere NEAR the title at the end of the season" and sadly, they will be right.

Same old, same old, same old.
WTF has changed since last season?
If I hadn't seen all this before I'd say it was Deja Vu!
Loads of possession, no end product. Always happens against team that want to defend aganst us.
No change from last season. No chance of a trophy. Players don't seem to give a flying fuck.

Cesc at his best might have won us the game but I worry that more than ever his mind is going to be elsewhere.RocastleRock wrote:Im am fairly confident when i say ' Had cesc been playing today we would have won.. God we miss him when he's not there.
He must have watched that game with the same sinking feeling that I had. Despite the AW propaganda nothing has changed from last season.

There's a lot of negativity right now, and I agree with much of it. Almunia was exactly the same as last season, Diaby was atrocious, and our build-up play rarely led to anything.
But let's not forget we played at Liverpool, considered one of the 'Big 4' until Spuds knocked them off last season. I'd take a point at Anfield at any stage of the season - whether it be August or April - so am happy with today's result, if not the performance.
If we can play under-par and still take points away at the big clubs this season, we'll do okay. That remains to be seen of course (Chelsea and Man Utd will probably stuff us), but I'm a relatively happy boy tonight, at least.

I'd have settled for a point before the game so I'm not complaining about the result.
Almunia is a big time fucking liability though. He has to have played his last game in an Arsenal shirt now! I hope is replacement is Given, not Schwarzer.
The frustration for me is that we lack penetration. We used to play this style of game with Pires, Berkamp, freddy and TH14. The difference is that they were good enough to find that killer ball through. This lot are a decent bunch of players but they lack that incisiveness that we were used to.
Overall not a bad result but we'll win nothing unless we raise our game.

New day, same old shit.
Kos - impressive debut. Granted they only had 1 up front & he’ll still get molested by Drogba but he dealt with most of what he had to pretty well. Seems good in the air in open play (like TV5), which only makes our vulnerability at set-pieces all the more hard to stomach. A quality, vocal GK is obviously a must but without a shitload of defensive work on the training pitch we’ll still come undone easier than Kerry Katona’s jeans at an Iceland finger buffet.
Jack - looked a bit out of his depth at times, but without making excuses for him he was hardly helped by being asked to play in that MF trio. Players of his type (& inexperience) need a solid base behind them - they’re gonna make mistakes & try risky passes/touches in the wrong areas. Expecting him to play in a MF with not one defensively minded player was ridiculous.
Diaby - abysmal. The # of times he dallied on the ball & slowed the game down when we need to be passing the ball at a quicker tempo & dragging Liverpool out of position would beggar belief if we hadn’t seen it a million times before.
Chamakh - pretty poor tbh. Nothing stuck to him today. But his work-rate closing down still pissed on Bendtner’s (whose alleged “work-rateâ€

same old same old for me, we passed them to death in the 1st half without making one clear cut chance but they never gave us any real woirries. 2nd half, we went to sleep for the 1st ten minutes and due to defensive frailties
we gift them a goal and then look extremely unlikely to score until we get a gift from the gods
right at the death. Really, this looked like a match between two also rans who won't be bothering the real challengers at the end of the season. If Wenger does'nt get a minimum of a decent keeper and cover at centre back then we're fucked. We might bully the likes of West Brom at home on a good day but when we come up against chelsea or the manc vermin then they'll obliterate us like they did last season. Blackpool will be looking forward to next week a lot more than we are atm

Up4Grabs got it exactly right as far as I am concerned when he bemoaned our total lack of tempo
It doesnt take a tactical genius to know that when you are playing against 10 men you need to move the ball fast so as not to allow the opposition get players behind the ball and get organised but nasri and diaby (*word censored*) kept fcuking about in possession
We have all seen and read the compliments that chahmack and nasri have received during pre season but today showed that yet again pre season performances generally count for shit
To assess what I thought of the players -
almunia = shite and a big pile of it too
His flap at their corner in the 1st half was woeful
clichy - I have been a big fan of clichy but today imo he was absolute shit
He made fcuk all effort in the tackles and 50/50 balls and got ¨´megged twice if I not mistaken. Attitude and performance not good enough imo
diaby = another pile of shite and I dont need to keep explaining why
theo - son if you can just remember that you actually need to bring the ball with you as opposed to leaving it behind or worse still standing on the fcuking thing (
) then that would be a great start
I should also say that I am surprised that I have read so many of the same old same old comments
When you sign up for another 3 years of the man who has presided over this bullshit then surely you cannot be expecting anything to change can you ? Almunia being picked, almunia being captain, woeful defending at set pieces, overplaying the ball around the opposition goal and of course woeful woeful crossing are fast becoming the trademarks of wenger and this team

Must give a compliment to Paul Merson here.
The Sky 'pundit' with the ubiquitous Redknapp Minor.
Came out bluntly and said that if we don't get a convincing keeper we won't win anything, now or in the future.
Have to say it's nice to hear an 'Arsenal' ex pro come out with this bluntly and truthfully and not the usual Bob Wilson 'garbage' about how 'wonderful' everything Arsenal is.
Sorry Bob lovers - to an extent I am one - but his "tractor production up 75% on last month" module, has worn thin to the point of embarrassment, long ago.
Merse might have added that our weakness at corners and free kicks and our inability to exploit the same is just shocking !!!!
