few good points out of the game as well as a few obvious bad points, unfortunately the bad outweighed the good...
bad points...
1. failure to break down a team who park the bus (usual)
2. our goalkeepers are shocking (we knew that already)
3. we have no plan b (nothing new)
4. we need at least one more cb for cover (we've been screaming it for weeks)
5. we need Cesc more than he needs us (yeh yeh we know)
6. too many players either not good enough or do not put enough heart/commitment/effort in i.e. Diaby, Arshavin
7. Wilshere as good as he is already, he's not ready for the big games (yesterday was too much for him i thought)
good points...
1. Kos looked good in the air and showed he has some pace too
2. we gained a point when all looked lost
3. Chamakh did ok
4. we made the crunt Reina look like a clown
Wilshere made the crucial error which lead up to the goal but letting the pass bound for him roll on towards Nasri who was not expecting it which lost us the possession but Almunia was beaten at his near post once again
he plants his feet and bends his knees, putting his arms in the air, put your hands in the air to make yourself taller whilst bending your knees to make you a little bit shorter at the same time
Kos 2nd yellow was ridiculous, what could he do about it? Ball kicked up at him from no more than 2 yards, with about a second to react, considering it was also on the half way line, Torres wasnt gonna score from there, he hasnt denied a goal scoring opportunity or intentionally handballed (a la Ngog) so ridiculous decision, think ref was just trying to level it up for the last 90 seconds of added time :awnker:
couldnt help but laugh at our goal tho
my m8 and i got the whole pub we were in chanting "YOU'LL NEVER PLAY FOR BARCA!!" directed at Reina, the 'pool fans couldnt say much...
probably an undeserved point for our 2nd half performance but our 1st half performance maybe scrapped it, ah well, not a bad start with a tough game...Anfield with a new manager...was never gonna be easy

Wilshere hardly did anything! To say he played "very well", even allowing for his deep position, I think is pushing it.rigsby wrote:I actually thought Wilshire did very well considering he played a lot deeper than he usually does. He made a mistake but thats to be expected.
Clichy had better improve
Clichy does need to improve...hoping Gibbs gets a chance against perhaps the lesser teams to get him into the team...Blackpool anyone?rigsby wrote:I actually thought Wilshire did very well considering he played a lot deeper than he usually does. He made a mistake but thats to be expected.

Agreed. Would have been better to have him debut in the first eleven against Blasckpool probably but save for that one moment which was what I feared could happen in your first big match I thought he did pretty well in the circunstancesflash gunner wrote:Thats spot on, Wilshere was ok and thats taking his age into itmarcengels wrote:Wilshere hardly did anything! What I liked about Wilshere yesterday is that although he didn't have a good game, he just looked like a player having an off-day rather than a kid overawed by the occasion and just not up to that level of play as some of our lesser youngsters (eg Eastmond) have done in league games. That's the sign of real talent - showing the quality without the form to match - he still moved the ball quickly enough just not accurately enough.

Ive seen Wilshere get slated in a few papers today. I dont think he done too bad. Considering he was up against Gerrard and Mascherano, 2 very good players i dont think he looked out of place one bit. Confident on the ball aswell.
A little dissapointed about the result, especially after they went down to 10 men.

That's always been there. Even two years ago at the Emirates Cup you could see he belongs out there and knows it and plays that way Something you don't necessarily from a number of other players who've comethrough the same way to the first team.djhdjh wrote:What I liked about Wilshere yesterday is that although he didn't have a good game, he just looked like a player having an off-day rather than a kid overawed by the occasion and just not up to that level of play as some of our lesser youngsters (eg Eastmond) have done in league games. Like I say he just needs to play more to be more ready in those situations, more used to the pace of movement and passing and tackling at the highest level. I just would have preferred starting him off in a less difficult fixture.

Tbh I thought that he did ok too - you have to consider that he was playing alongside one of the more useless *word censored* ever to play for our club (diaby) and in a lightweight midfield against a bullying midfield of gerrard and the argie thug

Are you serious? So when you say he "did very well", what does "did" mean, if it's not refering to playing?

I see rigsby’s been to the rolypoly school of law.
