ive heard of him, but couldnt have told you who he played for. his calibre isnt bad from the looks of things and should be able to do a decent job you would think.

I am not excited in the slightest, I have seen him on several occasions since his Monaco days and he isn't the answer.

He lost his place at Lyon and has lost his place again at Sevilla :banghead: I wont be suprised if the fee is 4mill or less because Sevilla dont need him and that speaks volumes.

I bet this is all true! I wouldnt put this past Wenger to spend 4 mil or less on a has been CB we hardly know of. This is a poor buy and not Arsenal quality. No scrap that this is current day, so yes he is perfect for us. Cheap, not prem proven, no other big team wants him or any other prem team for that matter. So yes i will be happy with this.

Wenger please for the love of god buy a CB and a keeper so we can atleast have some kind of hope this season.

Once we paid £8m-ish for Kos this was always gonna be the sort of CB we’d see coming in after I guess. No way I could see Wenger paying £8m for a CB to be anything but first-choice so any signing after Kos was only ever gonna be second fiddle, and thus second-rate. Cant say I know much about the guy so I wont write him off but it definitely has the feel of a making-up-the-numbers signing. Truly inspirational stuff. :|

agreed mate, not going to pay £8.5m and stick him on the bench.

happy if another body is coming in, but all seems so off the cuff and patchwork. again, the defensive side is an afterthought.

And if this does materialise, I simply cannot understand why AW waits until August 19 when he's had since May 9.

Is three-and-a-half months not long enough for him? Why start fucking around only ONCE the season's started?

It's pathetic, and the same as the goalkeeping nightmare.

Give us an experienced centre back Wenger!!!!!!
Here ye go a player over 30 who has vast experience and is decent enough back up to go with Kos.
No no no Arsene we wanted something different!!!

AW tells us he won't sign players over 30 to more than a one-year contract.

He then contrasts this by ACTIVELY seeking out players that are starting their Arsenal career at over 30 years of age.

Surely you can see why this would cause annoyance amongst certain fans?

He never offers a second contract of over a year to a player over 30.....

This looks to me like a good signing if it actually happens, although 2 CBs in, 5 CBs out isn't smart, but Wenger being the stubborn, tight, super annoying, egotistical, obsessed, ineffective, hesitant, bad decision making, contradictory, seemingly ignorant to universally recognised and regularly exploited weaknesses, prejudiced against majority of englishmen at our club, empty promises making, deluded, brainwashing, misfit buying, disregard for the honour of captaincy (hence disgracefully throwing almunia the armband when better candidates are available) pigheaded man he is will probably re-sign Cygan in Jan. Only cos hes french.
