V. bad deal imo.
Erm... on loan, surely?
"Arsenal are likely to value the Mexican international far beyond a £2m makeweight"

I read that as suggesting it was a sale, not loan.

if he buys this lad (not sure that 30 yrs old constitutes the use of the word 'lad') he will merely be papering over the cracks. also will be ensuring the majority of the team are french!! well certainly the defence!!

Arsenal have agreed a deal with Stuttgart to sign teenage starlet Serge Gnabry.

The coveted attacking midfielder enjoyed a successful ten-day trial for the north London club, impressing for Arsenal in two behind-closed-doors U18 friendlies.

A goal in the second match against Birmingham City gave the watching youth staff a glimpse of the player's ability, with the Gunners quick to negotiate a deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

Young Guns reports that an agreement has been reached between the two parties, with Arsene Wenger's side expected to pay in the region of £100,000 in compensation as they add to their academy ranks.

Gnabry will complete the switch in July 2011 after his 16th birthday, although the youngster is expected to start training with the club in January in a bid to get used to the playing conditions in England ahead of the move.

Arsenal academy chief Liam Brady is thought to have been impressed by the skills presented by a player who can also play on the right hand side of midfield.

The talented 15-year-old is yet to decide if he represents Germany or the Ivory Coast at international level, but Arsenal have beaten off any club competition that they might have faced for the signature.

Great another signing for our Carling Cup side of 2012-2013, followed by a season or two on loan to either Huddersfield, then W.B.A. followed by a non-disclosed transfer fee to Crystal Palace, in 2015.

The official languages in Belgium are French, German and Dutch (or Flemish, which is a variation of Dutch) according to wiki.

I may be wrong about TV5 speaking French, possibly Dutch/Flemish as his accent is more Dutch than French.

I see we've apparently put in another bid for Schwarzer. Of exactly the same amount we bid three months ago. Genius.

If Schwarzer strikes and forces through the transfer at £2m I will admit I was wrong and call it genius without being sarcastic but he isn't that sort of player and I doubt we'd want him if he was. That's the only way we get him at £2m.
