As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Bit stupid from Fulham really.
I really hope this is true. Although we are desperately running out of time.
Hmmm, so what happens come the 5pm deadline today, and no goalie has come in, and we have to persevere with the *word censored* that is Almunia, he looks like he's got the hump already, he's not going to be up for playing tomorrow is he ?
Not wenger's style I know but I really think he should consider some of the options in the article below are to be believed. Obviously signing diarra is not an option and signing van der vaart makes no sense as we dont really need that type of player (even though I really rate the guy) but gago, especially on loan, would give us a much needed increase in quality in the DM position. Having an international quality player competing and rotating with song would give us an added steel and energy in the middle of the park without having to look to the likes of diaby or denilson (square pegs in round holes) to do the job. The fact that we could probably get him on loan would also mean that our transfer kitty for the keeper and centre back positions would remain untouched - it would be a win/win scenario

The Spanish giants will try to tempt Liverpool and Chelsea into a move for Rafael van der Vaart, while one-time Manchester United targets Mahamadou and Lassana Diarra are both up for grabs.
Fernando Gago is also available, though attempts to spark interest from Manchester City are doomed, while Everton could only afford a loan or cut-price move. Highly rated Argentina midfielder Gago should have no trouble finding a new home, but City, who tried to sign him in January, are unlikely to be interested after bringing in Yaya Toure from Barcelona.

Gago would be what we need in DM! However he is strong, probably wanted by other big teams so i doubt Wenger would want him. I dont think Wenger knows about defensve play anymore nor the importance of it.
Highly rated Argentina midfielder Gago should have no trouble finding a new home
Let´s sign him!
Done deal, according to TalkShit and BogBlog..
They have a quote from a source who once watched a Sunday league football match, saying "Gago is a player who belongs to a team, somewhere" and when asked, do Arsenal exist?, apparently he/she replied, "Yes."

Fernando Gago has stated that he won’t be leaving Real Madrid this summer, having held talks with coach Jose Mourinho and general manager Jorge Valdano to ascertain his role in the side.
The Argentine midfielder isn’t expected to pin down a starting berth under the new Portuguese coach, but he is happy to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabeu.

Another C-O-S fable, but here goes. Get Wiipedia ready.
"Arsenal are formulating a back up plan in case they fail to secure Sevilla centre back Sebastien Squillaci as Arsene Wenger sets his sights on Bordeaux defender Michael Ciani. Arsene Wenger is thought to be a big admirer of the powerfully built French international and is ready to bid for his services should he fail to land his first choice target.
26 year old Ciani moved to Bordeaux last summer after two successful seasons at Lorient and is now very much part of Laurent Blanc’s international plans having been the boss who brought him to the Stade Chaban Delmas. He had a good first season at the club but failed to help the side retain their Ligue 1 title.
Ciani was particularly prominent in the club’s successful run to the Champions League Quarter Finals and would help beef up the Gunners defensive options as they look to replace outgoing trio William Gallas, Mikel Silvestre and Sol Campbell.
Wenger would have to fork out around £12m for his services but that fee would be a fair price to pay for a player who has shown a great deal of potential."
If it has any weight to it, then not a bad shout on the face of it. 6ft2 1/2, looks big, from the couple of youtube clips I've seen he can score with head and feet (good video against Bayern, scores with a nice side foot in mid air).
