Despite him being disruptive he is a quality CB and on occasion he really plays with passion. I think he will make the wankers down the road MUCH stronger than before. Lets face it before he signed, there back 5 was stronger, now it’s much stronger compared to us.
I admit he will cause problems there eventually but for a 1 season I would of taken him back. He will also play his fucking socks off when playing us, like the rest of the there team when they play there 1 good game all season.

You mean their defence that got torn apart by a shit swiss side?
Spurs defence is injury prone and weak. Dawson had 1 good season and thinks he's John Terry. Gomes is still error prone, he's like Almunia. Bale is more of a left winger, and esso-ekoto is pants. King is their own real quality but he's fucked.

Or our defence last season who let in over 40 goals. Now its weaker so god knows. Lets not forget letting in 5 against a shit polish team all defensive and keeper errors.rigsby wrote:You mean their defence that got torn apart by a shit swiss side?

Whatever your views on Gallas the player and his move to Spurs - the thing that is frustrating me is that if you look at their squad, they already have 5 centre-backs, with the Croatian guy (Corluka?) also able to play there competently. And because King and Woodgate can't be relied on to play loads of games, they've see fit to go out and buy yet another one.
Contrast that with our absolute need to buy at least one centre half, if not two, not only to make up the numbers because we got rid of 3 (4 if you include PS), but also to cover for Djourou's inevitable injuries.
And by at least one (preferably two) I mean on top of the Kos signing. The youngsters are either on loan and/or not ready, and although Sagna could play there, the only other viable option is Song. But then, who covers for him in CM?

That's the point I was trying to make Hlebby!
People were happy with Sol coming back as he added some much needed experience to the squad and also could still play at the highest level when required.
There is no reason why Gallas could not have done that for us! For fucks sake wenger spunked a load of money on Silvestre's wages for that very same reason!
Our squad would be a stonger one today with Gallas in it rather thannot!

My point exactly. We are weaker now than we were last season, and last season we needed extra cover!!!!!!!I Hate Hleb wrote:Whatever your views on Gallas the player and his move to Spurs - the thing that is frustrating me is that if you look at their squad, they already have 5 centre-backs, with the Croatian guy (Corluka?) also able to play there competently. I used to like Gallas AS A PLAYER, thought he was a great centre back and had a good partnership with TV5, good boy to get a goal too, would of liked to see him stay, couldnt really give a shit where he's gone too, it's not like he's in his prime like when Sol was and we really loved him like they did with Sol, wont be gettin upset over this and lets face it, deep down he's just a CHELSEA *word censored*!!!

Agree totally with this IHH, (incidentally you don't have to changed your forum name when Hleb joins the Heebs - clever stuff)I Hate Hleb wrote:Whatever your views on Gallas the player and his move to Spurs - the thing that is frustrating me is that if you look at their squad, they already have 5 centre-backs, with the Croatian guy (Corluka?) also able to play there competently. But whilst Gallas would have strengthen us in numbers, he was in definite decline from previous standards, his pace had all but gone and he was getting more injury prone every passing season.

Thing is he didnt strike up a good partnership with tv5 and we looked very porous on more than one occasion. I stated last season that gallas was escaping criticism last season cos he was scoring goals but a defenders job is to defend first and foremost and imo he wasnt doing that (although to be fair if he was playing alongside a tall mertesacker type he may well have shone).
Thing that surprises me is the lack of attention his injury record at Arsenal has received

I get the fact that we need more experience to guide our younger players but honestlt gallas is not that type of player. He is not the type to cajole and encourage and his frustrations always struck me as more selfish than anything else. If we gave him a 2 year deal after losing better and more committed players during wenger's reign as a result of that over 30's rule then I for 1 would be well pissed off

I actually think it was Kolo and Gallas MKII - both decent defenders in their own right but very similar in qualities and just didnt blend together very well. But even after one season id say TV is more of an asset to us than Gallas is/was personally.Percy Dalton wrote:Sorry I don't believe he didn't have a decent partnership with TV5 considering it was their first season together.
Even if they were shakey, would Thomas not be as responsible for this or not so because he never plyed for Chelsea?
Hopefully Kos will be a dominant CB in the air as thats what we are missing, leaving TV to do the pacy stuff and work on the floor.
