Shows that if you play him the right way, play to his obvious strengths rather than his obvious weaknesses, he can be a useful player.

Good on him even if its just Blackpool. Its up to him to do this(highlighted above) and not restrict himself to the flanks where his final ball is a clear weakness.

ALAN HANSEN stuck the knife into Theo Walcott despite his hat-trick against Blackpool.

The BBC pundit left Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker shell-shocked after slaughtering the winger for not having a "footballing brain". Former Liverpool hero Hansen reckons Walcott makes too many wrong decisions when he has time on the ball.

He said; "People have said he doesn't have a footballing brain. And if you haven't got a footballing brain, you can't just acquire one.

"You can't coach a footballing brain but I think he's a wonderful player and he will get better.

"The big problem is when he's got time to think, he never, ever picks out the right ball. If you're going to be the best in the Premier League or the world, you've got to have an all-round game."

Ah, I've been looking to see if this was mentioned!
I was gobb smacked when I watched MOTD. I shouldn't have been and even the wife had her 2 pennies worth on Hanson!

Personally, I did think during the game; Was on fire? or was he simply good because it was Blackpool?
So to a degree Hanson was right....to a point.

But WHAT A CUNT!
Theo's what? 21..22?
The guy's just scored a hatrick. We take your points but there's no need to slate the guy in the way he did.
Linekar was shocked and was backing Theo up.....(although in a 'I'm only the presenter but can't really debate in this way')
He could have said what was needed in another way or better to have suggested it as a question but there was a definate an agenda there. Either to Theo, Arsenal or England.

Theo probably wanted to watch the hightlight and see his pludits after picking up the match ball. He must be horrified to see Hanson totally dismiss him.

Hansen is undoubtedly a prick and anti-Arsenal as well. That said I had to agree with his comments, yes Theo had a good game but as the old saying goes "one swallow does not a summer make".
Let's not get ahead of ourselves and just wait and see if we are still singing Theo's praises in 6 months time. I sincerely hope we are, but I won't be holding my breath.

Hanson (whilst still being an arsehole) is right though. Theo is at his best when he doesn't have the time to think about the best option. He makes the wrong decision time after time when he has space and time.

His goals were quality against B'pool but there is the rub. It was Blackpool, the weakest side in the PL and down to 10 men.

Will Theo score like that against the chavs, mousers or manc filth? I doubt it. I hope he can push on now and have a great season but I have my doubts tbh... :(

Can someone explain to me how it's possible for Theo not to have a good football brain yet only make the wrong decision when he has time to think?! Surely, making the right decision only on instinct would suggest a decent football brain?

Hansen is a prat.

Hopefully, come the end of the season, this will turn out to be as big a gaffe as his "You'll win nothing with kids" remarks about Manure.
Fingers crossed :)

This is always a ridiculous statement. Is Rosicky a shit player because he didn't score against Blackpool then? Because they're so shit? Was Ronaldo a runnish player because he really only scored against lower teams? No.

Plus Theo has scored big goals before, he's 21, injury free and no lets judge him.

Sweepingly silly generalisations there. Do you consider Theo a great player? Does he deliver the goods against the big teams game after game? No. He doesn't. Season after season he has failed to deliver the goods against the big teams on an even semi-regular basis.

Also, I'm not saying he is rubbish because he scored against a 10 man Blackpool, but the the reality is he is far more likely to score and play well against a 10 man Blackpool than he is against an 11 man Manure or Chavs. This is fact.

What is ridiculous is comparing Rosicky or Ronaldo to Theo. We are not discussing those players. We are discussing Theo.

And what you are saying isn't sweeping?

Thoughts about Theo aside, I was making the point that the opposition matters little. It doesn't matter who you play you have to score against them. Saying it's only Blackpool means you are writing that team off, therefore shouldn't the players who have proven quality have torn them apart as well?

Whether Theo becomes a great player is irrelevant to what is posted about it 'just being blackpool'. If he banged in 3 against Man Utd, people would still be saying 'Its just one game' Who he plays against matters little, its how he concistantly does.

Whatever anyone thinks of Theo, Hansen's still a dour prick who can't bring himself to muster a single compliment towards Arsenal at any time.
