BLACKPOOL GAME THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Tbh I find it really embarassing  A player that adds fcuk all to our team and who still has a tendency to dive at will (see anfield last week for proof) is held up as some sort of a god at our club  This typifies exactly what our team and support has become   :(
Typical redAction types

I just don't understand how you can slag off a guy who has gone to the trouble of making his own banner in support of one of our players, and displaying it at a game. Eboue is clearly a Cult Hero, the definition of which is basically someone who is not very good, but people love anyway. What is the problem here?

And 'typical redaction types'? What does that mean? Someone who wants to have a bit of a laugh at a football match, and not take it all so seriously? Either we have a shit atmosphere and people need to do something about it, or we all sit here and complain while making zero effort ourselves.

THIS typifies exactly what our support has become

Sorry Cook"y but loving Eboue because he is 'funny' and throws his shirt into the crowd at the end of games is something that sums up the modern day Arsenal supporter. Dont get me wrong i dont hate Eboue he is a good 2nd choice right back (ONLY) but to make him into a cult hero for the things he does off the pitch is not right, couple that with the fact he dives, feigns injury and is generally an average player at best on the pitch im not into the Eboue hero worshipping......

Now tell me to fuck off down the road to sp*rs or just call me a boring bastard i dont care what you think but no one cares more about Arsenal than me and im very vocal at the games i get to

Up the Gunners :barscarf:

I have no problem with cult heroes as such but generally that type of status is reserved to players who bust a gut for the team and not players who dive about the place but are great craic  We have players that are far more worthy of fan worship but cos our fans nowadays are largely new age fans they dont see or value the importance of players like tv5, sagna etc and believe it is a great laugh to boost up eboue
I can guarantee you that cult hero status wouldnt go on at clubs like barca, real madrid, ac milan etc cos in those places excellence not humour is the standard required

I fekin love Eboue! Atleast he is some kind of bond with the fans. More so than many of the other players we have.
