that's your view on it... i'm sure that if you, augie, donaldo, sid and co. were managers, you'd be the mourinho type. no problems with that, as again, mourinho is probably the best manager in the world, very successful. but again, different goals.

the only way you could laugh about arsenal being a big european club is if you're into hlebbys ciggies, mate - and even i who enjoy a spliff every once in a while don't find this funny at all. we're one of the only 3 teams to have qualified for the CL in the last 13 or 14 years or something like that, we're always seeded, we're always there at the quarter finals, sometimes semis, and even one final. we've destroyed inter milan, beat real madrid and milan away... sorry mate, like it or not, we're a big european club, probably the biggest to never have actually won the bloody trophy

Which is why we see JCLS slagging off greats such as Wrighty, Merse and Smudger because they have dared question what is going on at the club.
So what chance does Mourinho have of being given any scope to criticise the wonderful Mr Wenger.
I would take mourinho as our manager tomorrow, but then I would take anyone in order to see the back of Wenger. :banghead:
Totally agree Sid

There are some on here who would say Wenger is better than Fergie who has built 4 teams over a period of time and still wins trophies(all flukes of course  ) Wengers record in Europe will always be his achilles heel.

By a same token, Wenger will NOT be one of greatest managers unless he wins CL...and he knows it...

We didn't go for Sneijder if it's such a no-brainer - kind of guy we need/needed. And Mourinho got notoriously temperemental Eto to play left wing attack all season, for the team benefit.

I know you don't want to give him any credit for these deals but he did them, and with the net cash from the Ibrahimovich deal, he likely hardly had any net spening at all.

Fair play on Ibrahimovic stats, but makes it a gamble to get rid of such a star performer - and he won the treble!

I have no qualms criticizing Arsene because I do that all the time, but it makes no sense coming from someone who has spent millions in his short career.

How was Ibrah's deal a gamble :? He signed Diego Milito who was a top striker at Genoa scoring 22goals in 31games in his only season there and got Eto........ ETO!.

As for us not signing Sneijder, well thats the direction our club is going, its not great but it is what it is. Besides he wanted to go to a winning side and Inter were that under Mancini, so NO Jose dint join just any team and suddenly made them great.

We all have our opinions on the man and I maintain the fact that he is a mercenary, when the money dries up he jumps ship.

I am sure this has been done on here before, but never sure about that statement. Are these things not relative ? As Bg has stated we have played in the CL over the last 14 years making a final and semi/qf at times.

Using that logic, are Notting Forest and Aston Villa big european clubs ?

Are Chelsea NOT a big European club ?

Wasn't a gamble - just a crack at your Ibra stance  I'l signpost it next time  you wouldve thought ith that turnover of players it would take longer to win the treble.

He jumped ship because one of the top 2 clubs in the world want him, after he won the treble.

One man's mercenary is another's achiever.

exactly. no team in europe would want to face us or chelsea. that's been hapenning for the last 6-7 years. how come both clubs are not big european clubs, then?

will you tell me that real madrid hasn't been a big european club for the last decade? because they've been quite worse than us in the CL...

Well if you discount their 2 European Cups this decade, then perhaps you have a point!! But then again, isn't it the fact that they had already won 7 European Cups before that the thing which made them an obviously big club, if not the biggest? :? :?

Now personally I think our history dictates that we should be considered a big European club - although I do understand the argument that until we win the CL, many won't consider us so, despite the 'achievement' of constantly qualifying. :banghead:

Mourinho said what he said to get a reaction out of (and to de-stabilise) a major rival. He recognises the value of mind games, just like that old f**ker Ferguson, as it is part of their win at all costs mentality.

Trouble is though, he's said nothing that isn't true and this criticism will continue until Arsene returns to winning ways. The only way to shut the knockers up is to win something!
