THE PROJOE TOTALLY POINTLESS TRANSFER RUMOUR THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wanted to suggest him as a possibility for a while, especially if we can't get Given, as he is a big lad and has looked decent whenever I've seen him - albeit, not that often.

Maybe not as crazy an idea as it seems. Although Chelsea will be able to offer him more money, we'd give him an almost guaranteed first team place. 8)
I remember being pretty impressed with what I saw of him at Pompey. But would Wenger splash out for such a young keeper? I presume he is still pretty fixed on sorting a regular starting place for Flappy, Mannone and Shezzer in the not-too-distant-future. We have seen this with the outfield players. He is VERY unlikely to replace any of his youngsters.

We will get Schwarzer at best, although I hope otherwise.

So , this time next year when Cesc's DNA has been reunited with the Catalans c**t genes and Arsene is again racing the Transfer window clock ,
we'll be linked with him and will have to cough up that 4.5 Million as well as
whatever ridiculous fee Lyon deem him to be worth
NB ... Don't mean to start up that Gourcuff for Arsenal debate again by the way .

If Wenger does not buy a keeper i will hate him forever. No fuckin way should we keep Al and Flappy. Anyone who agrees with Wenger not buying a keeper or is a Wenger fan can also feck right off!!!!
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is refusing to rule out bolstering his goalkeeping options, but insists no deal is imminent.

The Gunners have seen two summer bids for Fulham's Mark Schwarzer rejected as Wenger tried to secure the Australian's services.

Arsenal are thought to still be in the market for another shot-stopper, but the Frenchman has highlighted that he already has four keepers at his disposal.

He thinks that signing another could undermine his existing options, although he is not ruling out more transfer activity before the window closes.

"We are where we are - we have four great keepers and it is important we give confidence to them for the next game," Wenger said.

"I do not rule it out, but at the moment I say I am not in a position to sign anybody. At the moment, it is all dead."

Wenger has voiced his displeasure that the transfer window remains open, stating it should close when the start of the new domestic season gets underway.

"I believe the transfer window should have been over already for a long time, because it should stop when the championship starts for domestic transfers, internationally it should go on until August 31 because not everybody starts at the same time," he concluded.

So we would have started the season with 3 center backs 1 of which is back from a 1yr lay off and dont get me started on the goalies  . Borderline stupidity :x

what a silly and knee jerk statement to make....how in anyway can you say that by AW saying the window should close (domestically) before the championship fixtures commence that we would have gone into this season with the 3 CB? he was purely making an educated statement which makes sense. if the window did close sooner then he would have done his business sooner, but gievn that he says internationally it is right to remain open till 31st August you have made yourself look silly!!

i get the impression no matter what AW says some people will always find a reaosn to turn it into negative dribble!!!

So it was all part of Wenger's masterplan to buy Squillaci three wks into the season and not three wks before?
