time to get behind almunia

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Whether you think Manuel is good enough or not does not matter as simply the man management of him has been disgraceful!

To anyone here, if ur gonna go to matches and start slagging off players before they've even done anything wrong then u shouldn't bother going at all. Almunia has done ok so far, I don't want him in goal but Citeh won't sell Given to us and Hughes was being a *word censored* over Schwarzer so we're stuck with him, he's had a decent start so far so let's get behind him. What's it gonna do for his confidence if we start hurling abuse at him in matches before he's done anything wrong? Time to back him, it's not ideal but we have to make do with what we've got.

So the ladt 5 years mean nothing to you?

Get a fucking grip superfan.

Better players and men than Almunia have been booed before. Almunia is a whimp and a shit keeper that has cost us titles and European Cups.

Jens Lehmann, Seaman, true heros and brilliant keepers. Legends.

Almunia - Disgrace of a player and to the club.

Hope hes booed, only one way to get the message across.

Superfan this, superfan that, yawn, yawn, yawn,

Is it wrong to be a little bit positive, try and get behind the players and give them positive vocal support? (And of course sing 'One Arsene Wenger?) :barscarf:

I was so sure we were gonna get another keeper, but the last few weeks i started to prepare for the worst! Not sure booing him before hes even done anything wrong is the righy idea, a song to wenger would be better surely?

Also does anyone know if loan signings can be done until 2moro when the squads are announced?

the question is, if we win something with Almunia in goal, will he then be good enough?

If he keeps a clean sheet in the CL final for us this year he will be......

Only then will he be......

Makes you think, if we has Mart Poom on the bench and not Almunia in Paris in 06......

Spurs signed a keeper with 80 international caps our keeper wouldn't get one cap if a hundred keepers in Spain were assasinated

Although we all know that the club made a move for Fulham's keeper, perhaps Wenger wasn't as bothered about whether he signed or not as we are. And here's why......

The only way I can get my head around this failure to get a new goalie is if Wenger thinks that the signing of the two new centre-backs and the using of one alongside TV, might offer our keeper - in this case Almunia - more protection and leave him less exposed.

I know, but it's just about the only even vaguely viable excuse left for why our manager didn't strengthen in that position - after making it clear he was after Schwarzer - which simultaneously, must have unsettled Almunia. :? :?

As fans we should back the keeper.

He was plucked from obscurity and made first choice keeper at a high profile club.
He surely knows he is not a world class player, but from the look of him he seems an intelligent and honest person, and any mistakes will affect him deeply and personally.

It is credit to his character that he has played for us this season, and played as well as he can.

It is Wenger and Gazidis who are responsible for buying a new keeper, not Almunia.
