The boss did exactly the right thing IMO.
He's brought attention to the unfair play which is an integral part of Stoke's game. It's good that it rattled a few cages. And maybe referees will get to grips with it.
Last season the ref asked him if he had any objections to them towelling the ball before throw-ins. Like a typical gentleman, he said it was ok with him. I suspect this season he will suggest that Delap sticks his towel up his rectum. It should be banned anyway. It's time wasting.
Stoke are a total disgrace. *word censored*.

Well if there are any towels if we play up there, everytime we get a throw in we should use the towel and rather than give it back take it back to our dugout. That'll show the *word censored*olgitgooner wrote:The boss did exactly the right thing IMO.

How the fuck can you sit here, and criticise Arsene Wenger, shows what a vendetta you have against him.
It had everything to do with Wenger, he was pointing out just how much Stoke got away with in the previous match, which was refereed by the ref for our next game, against another of the "bully boys". TIME AND TIME AGAIN Wenger has had to witness teams attempt to kick us off the park. Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton 3 of the main culprits, he's witnessed Aaron Ramsey have his leg snapped in half by Shawcross, then Shawcross be made out to be the poor one out of the two.
He is a classless wanker, who was not at all punished for a horrific challenge, and has come out of the other side, with no remourse, not at all sorry, and still believes that it is ok to put these sort of challenges in..

To be fair to (some of) the british hacks they recently discussed wenger's comments about scholes and stoke's style of play on the sunday supplement on sky sports and everyone of them to a man agreed with what wenger said.
Paddy Barclay (always seems to be a very very fair media man to me) absolutely slated the referee's in england and their tolerance of the "lets rough up the keeper" gameplan of teams like stoke etc and I for one totally agree with wenger drawing attention to the thuggary of teams and players like shawcross, stoke and elbows davies at bolton

what annoyed me against stoke was, they were taking around 30-45 seconds each throw in to get the towel, then dry the ball, then wind up for the throw etc etc
all well and good
but when we took the lead, we got a few throw ins, and each time i was thinking "get the fucking towel and towel off the ball to waste time!!" there's no way the ball boys could've refused, and it would've taken EVEN LONGER because they wouldn't be expecting it, so they'd have to go get the towel! AND it would've REALLY wound up the stoke fans
this year. i propose the first throw in we get, we request the towel, towel off the ball, then throw the towel in the biggest puddle close by and really stamp it in. (i don't care if there's hundreds of towels there, just do it every time, if they're towelling the ball off, they can't refuse it!)

I wont repeat anything that has already been mentioned on this thread.
However, i was at the Stoke game that saw an end to Ramsey's season, and i am no mug......but......how does the jumped up little oik have any right to comment about what the manager of the club the injured player plays for has said?
The game is football, not break ball....Shawcross for me has had it easy....he should like all thugs like him be banned for the entire time it takes the injured party to get back on the pitch.....three matches???? what a joke, the guy should miss the same time as Ramsey has.....

Looks like most of the points have been covered by previous posters. But I'm going to add anyway.
A lot of people criticize Wenger for being biased for Arsenal but I think he's a football purist who wants to see the game played properly - with good skill and technical ability.
Unfortunately Arsenal, who attempt to structure their team in a way to embrace that philosophy, are likely the most subjected to the physicality of the Premier League; and not just the "toughness" but the rough and dirty play as well.
A lot of the teams hide under the classic "it's the English game" but it gets taken to extremes to an almost sickening degree at times. A shoulder to shoulder challenge where Walcott gets knocked off the ball, that's a "physical" game. A guy running, swinging wildly, and breaking a guy's leg (through a shin guard) in TWO separate places at once, well that's just assault as far as I'm concerned. The fact that he's had another brash, reckless challenge since should really demonstrate that this guy is a dangerous player to have on the pitch.
But he's hardly reprimanded. No justice. And of course, people try to make Wenger the bad guy out of it. Politics aside, as a spokesperson for football, Wenger makes a very clear and accurate statement - this dangerous play has to go.
