And referees wearing black kits! That all went out of the window in USA 94, and with those green shirts in the premiership (Man U's fault)

I hate these modern floodlights, prefer it when people use the headlights on their cars.

Merse!!! My taste appears to be very similar to yours.

My top 3 were:

3rd Hampden Park. Almost an elongated Wembley but the net was a little tight.

2nd Stamford Bridge. Absolute quality but again the net a little tight.Loved the slightly upward horizontals at the top and the exagerated vertical stanchion at the bottom.

1st Wembley. Any goal looked great in these beaties even scrappy cup final goals like Bobby Stokes. Beautiful shape and perfect net retention.I was nearly in tears when the Scots ripped the down and was in tears at the opening of Euro 96 . The draw with Switzerland was bad enough but the horrible stanchions spelt the end of an era for me.

Funnily enough whther green or red the Arsenal stanchions were pretty awful. Tight nets and narrow guage netting too!!!

.....and I forgot to mention the stanchion site link Goalposts On Mars is actually run by my brother (Elsid) who lives a stones throw from highbury.

We grew up together living the stanchion dream.

Don't agree with his sketch of the QPR stanchion. From my memory they mirrored the Upton park ones, horizontal narrow upper stanchion, small portion at 45 degree angle and vertical drop. Very poor net retention.

Lets remember the ones at OT were similar to Wembley. The ones at Shite Hart Lane were very odd; looked like they were from a smaller goal and had been forced to fit. I hate the homogonised things they use now. It use to be each ground had their own individual stanchions. Leeds had those odd ones that were just the horizontal at the top with no lower part at all. Can't agree about Hampden; ten yards from the goal line to the back of the net and SQUARE goal posts!!
