What can be done??

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What can be done??

Post by mike »

I wasn't able to attend saturdays visit to the hole due to prior engaments, which led to me selling my ticket to a mate of mine.

On talking to him after the game it was the same old story of Arsenal fans fearing for their safety as moronic spurs fans tried to rush the police line keeping the 2 sets of fans apart on Park Lane causing panic and fear. He said the violence then continued out on Tottenham High Road. This is all remember after Spurs had scored a last minute equaliser, Heaven knows what it would have been like had we held on!

So what the hell can be done to sort out the problem that occurs in that corner of the ground at the hole TIME AND TIME AGAIN!

On talking to other fans of other clubs its not just Arsenal fans that get "The Treatment". Its fans of every club, Im not talking West Ham, Chelsea, Cardiff, Im talking the likes of Watford, Charlton, Middlesborogh etc.

I don't think its highlighted enough in the media just how intimidating the trip to The Lane is, everyone knows the risks of travelling to likes of your millwalls, cardiffs and chelseas but very rarely do spurs get any sort of a mention.

I nearly choked on my corn flakes when hearing spurs fans on the news moaning about unprovoked attcks in Seville a couple of weeks ago and about how they are one of the best behaved fans in England?!! Maybe these spurs fans have now had a little taste as to what it is like as an away supporter at the lane.

I know Arsenal football club and supporters clubs have had meetings with the police on this issue of safety at the lane in the past few years, but the problem seems to be getting worse rather than better.

Im not sure what can be done about it, but maybe it would be an idea to keep the Spurs fans in for about 10 minutes at the end to let arsenal fans quickly disperse. Keeping Arsenal fans behind simply adds to the problem as it gives the morons the opportunity to gather around where the away fans come out.

Something needs to be done as the problem is getting worse, OLD BILL TAKE NOTE!

Mate – I completely agree with everything you’ve just said. I will happily stand up for myself and am not easily intimidated, but the sheer level of idiots at The Hole ready to hit any Gooner in their sight (and I AM including children, women and older fans in that) make for a risky experience. When I went the old bill seemed to think it was quite funny that I was about to mingle in with those morons after the game and laughed as they wished me “good luckâ€

Thinking of writing to the old bill or something cos its getting silly. Maybe we could get a petition going before next seasons visit to the dump. I mean, everyone knows theres a problem there, at what other home game does some knobhead steward in a suit actually push a player from the opposition for simply celebrating in front of his own supporters for fear that it could cause the spurs fans to become irate! Adebayor was actually pushed on saturday. (Ask fat frank about celebrating in front of your own fans at the lane!!) Can't understand why they have the police control unit fitted into the roof of the away end either??!!

And who the hell is the moron that decided that Arsenal fans are not to be served alcohol in the ground but at the same time allow Spurs fans to guzzle booze all afternoon. ITS MENTAL.

If it was arsenal, be all over the red tops, all in the *breaking news* report to the police stewards and FA get them f**cked, coz thats esacly wat would be done to us....also i agree, if i see ne trouble between ne fans and a *mother/pregnant lady/elderly person/child, in any kind of danger i wouldnt take a second look.

Also would like to make a complaint about the stewards at Arsenal here, was at the gamne v man shitty, and the stewards were all having ago at us gooners, not a word mentioned to them.....the big boss *steward* looked over to me and sed y dont u jus watch the match....i paid 30 odd quid for a tkt and cant even have a bit of banter with the fans on the othjer side, it was ok for them, to swear and throw abuse towards us....wake up andif u wanna sort out trouble y dont u go to the FA and sort out the **** :@:@:@

The problem with football in the UK is that the press will not report the scum for doing this and the police will take no notice.

During the home game of this season I was in row 1 of upper tier above spurs, had a full row of spurs throwing stuff up, shouting abuse, the whole your dead, outside sh*te, taking pics of us on phone cameras.

Thats not a problem, not a tell tale or gonna cry over it, very fustrating tho that police begin to tell us to stop looking down and a bloke in the club prawn tier (fair do's for havinga proper go back and in CL) gets a bollocking from police man and arsenal steward, where is teh justice in this. Police in blue seem to waste reems of film taking pics of them, they must just be a bit gay because season after season nothing happens.

scum now and forever are spurs
