White South Africans...

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

White South Africans...

Post by DB10GOONER »

The rudest people on the planet?

Discuss.

Ok, steady on. I'll rephrase that; has anyone here ever met a White South African that wasn't rude and mannerless?

I’ve met a good few White South Africans (WSA) over the years in various countries and every one of them was arrogant, rude, bad mannered and just a tad racist! Of course I’m generalising somewhat here but I’ve yet to meet one I liked! Has anyone met any nice WSA’s?

WSA bird on my train home every day, all she does is yap at the top of her voice on her mobile for 45 minutes. And it’s all bollocks about sell this, buy that... this thread was probably provoked by this stupid bitch!

Worst example though was when I met a WSA girl in Galway when we were running interviews over there and we had a chat before I brought her into the interview room.

I asked her; “How do you like living in Ireland?â€

Dangerous topic here DB, she may well have been rude, racist and indeed a hypocrite given that whites are not native to south africa, so she can hardly call it her country.
I though do believe that immigration is a problem that is becoming more and more widespread in Ireland.

By that I don't mean that the problem is the colour of someones skin, just that there are too many "foreign nationals" in the country and this south african woman would fall into that bracket.

Agree it is a touchy subject but I'm genuinely interested. I've met alot of Engerlish people I've liked and some I've disliked. Ditto most other nationalities TBH. You'll always meet more people you like than dislike is my experience with most nationalities/races. But I've yet to meet a WSA I've liked. And this worries me a bit too as someone who despises racism.

I think it may indeed be down to the accent being a bit gutteral and harsh to some extent (plus cultural differences in what is publicly acceptable maybe) but the ones I've met also lacked any modicum of subtlety or respect when talking in public. It was very "here's my opinion and I'm gonna yell about it!"

Maybe I've just been unlucky and met only WSA Percy's! :-P

I have a white South African uncle who’s just about the nicest person you could ever meet. But he says himself that white South Africans are generally arrogant, ignorant racist spunkmullets (I might have paraphrased there) & he left there as soon as he could. Lives in Canada now, which population-wise is probably at the complete opposite end of the tosspot spectrum.

My girlfriend lived in SA for about 5 years as a kid during the end of the apartheid years too. She actually says a lot of those she remembers were quite nice but the ones she’s met since (over here) have all been twats.

There is no excuse for rascism of any kind but i would imagine growing up with apartheid and generations before you growing up with it would give you a sense of rascism being ok. As i said thats not an excuse but maybe the reason many are rascist. I think the new generation of WSA's will be different though but we might have to wait a few years before they are old enough to start working etc.

As for the arrogant rude type of behaviour i have never known a WSA enough to be able to make a judgement really

On thinking quickly...I don't think I've ever actually met any.

I do think Ireland is becoming a bit too multicultural though.
