FA CUP MEMORIES

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

05 watching the final in the gunners.
Sky sports broadcasting from the little stage bit. Seeing the manc pub with like 5 people in. Seeing sky sports go live to the compoletey full gunners. being warned not to swear when they go live, then as soon as we see ourselves the whole pub breaking out into "manchester ***** ***** *****"
seeing myself on sky sports. everyone in the pub wearing glazer masks and usa flags. the geezer who threw a ful pint at the tv when reyes got sent off. winning.
dancing in the street, holding up traffic. getting on buses on blackstock and dancing through them.
getting home that night and watching the highlights with an awesome hangover.

WHAT A DAY

My FA cup memories was the 2005 cup run in which i went to 5 out of the so many games that season includeing the final & semi with the rest being at Highbury
Still remember cup final day quite well & it's going to be a very much missed experience at Cardiff

Speaking of Cardiff them at home was a little bit of a bore becuase for some reason & i don't know if anyone else thinks so but i find the cup to be abit flat with the singing as well a prime example was Blackburn last season

Man Utd away 2003 was a wonderful & remember saying oh shit when giggs went round Seaman then i thought we was done for sure but the miss over the bar always makes me smile & hearing Beckham got the boot was funny up til now

Being 2-0 down to Stoke City in the 71 semi final and Peter Storey equalising with a last minute penalty against Gordon Banks.
Charlie George scoring the winner against the scouse in the 71 final.
The misery of losing to Leeds the following season, fuckin hated Leeds then and still do even tho they play in the same division as Cheltenham nowadays
Being full of it for the 78 final against Ipswich, getting pissed, having tickets in the Ipswich end and erm.....being rather disappointed at the end :?
Going back in 79 and those last few minutes against the manc vermin :D
Willie Young's challenge on Allen in the 80 final againnst wham, another awful day.
Getting revenge on the **** in the 93 semi, thank you Tony, great day :D
Getting hammered by the manc vermin for 120 minutes then beating the fuckers on penalties in the 2005 final, priceless
And many, many other memories of FA cup games, far too many to mention or even recall right now

Went to Arsenal v Newcastle '98 but had tickets in the Newcastle end couldnt hold in the screams when we scored but lucky the geordies we in good spirit and even shook my hand at the end and congratulated us.
Seems like a cliche but they generally are like that.

My favourite is the Arsenal v Spurs semi from 1993. When Arsenal won their first trophy in my lifetime in 1979 I was 9 months old and apparently woken up by my father's screaming in anger at Arsenal's losing a 2 goal lead, then of course recovering the lead a few seconds later.

14 long years later this remained the only domestic trophy I'd never seen us win - with the painful '91 semi being the nearest. Two years later and plenty of 'we beat the scum 3-1 chants' later we're drawn again.

This time actually got tickets and went. My 1st visit to Wembley for footie purposes, to which I'd return 2 weeks later in the League Cup Final.

On the train up saw lots of gormless Spurs fans pumped up with false optimism (it was after all the Chinese year of the cockerill) - they'd won a few games and claimed to play what in those days passed for 'lovely football' with the incredibly 'skillful' Nick Barmby and Vinny Samways. We were very indifferent in the league around 10th place playing very defensive and relying on Ian Wright.

When Arsenal fans passed the underground train singing these Spuds fans snorted 'we'll find him after the game hahahaha!'. On the queue on Wembley Way into the stadium I remember some fat ugly women Spurs fan crying 'you might as well go home' to a queue of Arsenal fans.

The game wasn't so much exciting as the result was - Tony 'eee-ew' Adams was the donkey that won the derby, his goal I could only see by standing on the benches that replaced the 'unsafe' terraces at Wembley despite my being a 6ft tall 14 year old.

The final seconds took ages, in the days before the fourth official told us how long injury time was. With the Arsenal fans chanting 'blow yer fucking whistle'. It came and thus did the celebrations. Paul Merson's being the mock boozing one that he'd probably regret 18 monhs later when admitted to rehab.

Getting out of Wembley then as now took an eternity, but it must have been a longer eternity for the Spuds fans - one mercilessly taunted Spud shouting 'cut yer fucking hair' to a Kurt Cobain look-a-like gooner, the Spuds even tried a half-hearted 'we beat the scum 3-1'. A group of Gooners started chanting the 'over and over and over again' song which nearly lasted all the way to Wembley Park tube.

We were final in the FA Cup final after 14 years, that final being very unentertaining but victorious.

My favourite Arsenal FA Cup memory is also my first memory of seeing Arsenal live on the box and that was the 1979 Final 8).

I can still remember running around in my replica yellow away kit cheering and thinking it was the best feeling in the world, I has a long wait after that to experience those feeling again

Does anyone else remember buying replica kits in the 70's, I think they were made by a company called Coffer Sports and came in a box 8) I remember buying the away kit in a sports shop in Kenton, couldn't wait to get home to get it on
