Burnley using Arsenal to sell tickets to other games!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Burnley using Arsenal to sell tickets to other games!

Post by lisa_gooner »

From the Burnley Express:

"A LIMITED number of tickets are still available for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Arsenal. Popular areas of Turf Moor, such as the James Hargreaves Upper tier and Bob Lord Stand have almost sold out, while there is limited availability in the Family Stand, Jimmy McIlroy Lower tier and James Hargreaves Lower tier.

Non-season ticket holders are reminded that they must also purchase a respective ticket for another Turf Moor game at the same time as purchasing their Arsenal tickets (maximum of two per person)."

Classy. That really is a poor state of affairs.

I guess we won't be the only ones singing "you've only come to see the Arsenal".

Says something about the drawing power of our club.

Good for us...terrible for Burnley fans who care more about their own team...and even worse for those who really do just want to see Arsenal

Can you really blame Burnley for wanting to cash in on their "match of the season"?. Much better that they "force" their fans to come back for another game than just up the prices for this match (hope they haven't done both though...).

Although it does lack 'Class' i feel theyre doing the right thing as it will raise more money and the attendances. It's not a bad idea really.

It's not exactly a new idea. My friend supports Crystal Palace, and for a number of seasons (including the Premiership in 2004/05), they've sold tickets for Grade A games on the basis that you also have to buy tickets for Grade B games.

It is petty, but at least this way, the more loyal fans end up going. I don't think Burnley are 'using' Arsenal, as it seems to be a common occurance as far as I can tell.

i think they are trying to ensure that as many burnley fans get in the ground as possible, rather than either arsenal fans based up north or neutrals wanting to get tickets. this way it puts those types off from buying tickets.

Yep to me it's no different than a credit scheme, altho cos it's short notice like a cup match it's being done retrospectively!

It didn't really pay off though as there were plenty of empty seats. Southampton did that a few years back and my sister and her boyfriend ended up going in as they relented on that rule after kick-off. (Southampton end)
