There should be an option whereby you can turn off automatic updates, within Firefox, go to Tools/Options and then click on the update tab, there's a check box that can be ''unchecked'' to stop updates happening automatically.DB10GOONER wrote:I was fishing for the solution there, Captain Geek!franksav63 wrote:Yes.DB10GOONER wrote:I think one of the things slowing my PC down is AVG/Firefox looking for updates and upgrades all the time... would I be correct in assuming this?![]()
I'm not sure where it is within AVG, but I would go to a similar area Tools and Options, there should be an option to also uncheck auto updates.

Get yourself avast!
Does what it says on the tin, it's free and it sounds like something a pirate says.

Re: Internet Security Advice Required...
If you're using Windows Operating System...then the Microsoft Security Essentials would be best...and it is 100% FREE!....just google Microsoft Security Essentials...and down load it....made/designed by Microsoft especially for windows users (windows//Windows XP/ Vista/Windows 7 etc etc)I Hate Hleb wrote:Need some advice lads. It's that time of year when my 3 User McAfee Internet Security has expired and to renew would cost the following:
1 Year £32.99 (after initially asking for £48.89 a month ago!!!)
2 Years £55.99
3 Years £79.99
Should I go ahead and take up one of the offers? Or is there something else I can use that will give me peace of mind but not cost much, if anything?
Any constructive help would be appreciated.![]()
