As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
And so the eboue lovefest continues You will notice yet again that he is being praised once more for something that has absolutely fcuk all to do with how he plays in a match
He's a pretty good character guy, entertaining and very friendly. His play on the pitch is often inconsistent. But his versatility is extremely valuable, especially on a team who's always injured. He's won me back since his debacle in the derby, getting sent off early, back a few years ago.

Agreed 100%.
Jesus fucking Christ - is that what we are now? A comedy club? Love him? I fucking despise the prick. He is a diving cheating whining fuckbag that is playing court jester so the dumber fans will love him.
I really don't give a flying fuck how "funny" he is - the crunt is paid thousands per week to deliver on the pitch and HE DOES NOT DO THAT.
When he came on last night he was so out of touch with our quick intelligent passing it was embarrassing. Get rid of him and give his wage to a decent FOOTBALLER. If I want comedy I can lash on my Frankie Boyle and Al Murray DVDs...
First and Foremost, Eboue is a good squad player who had proven to be useful in the past either starting or coming on during a game. There are not many sides with a deputy right back as good as him, and he is probaly the best pure dribbler of the ball in the squad and very effective at driving teams backwards. That apart, he is also a bloody good laugh and I dont care what a load of old codgers think - he is an asset to the squad in many ways!
Not problem with him being a decent back up right back but I do have a major issue with the love in between him and the newer fans who seem to mistake humour for talent People seem to conveniently forget the continued cheating diving shit that he carried on with and still is albeit to a lesser exten still doing and he should be viewed as an embarassment to the club and fans instead of a fcuking hero

First and foremost, you are wrong.
Only kidding! I take your point, no harm in a bit of fun and some banter with the crowd. Wrighty did it. As did Merse. But they backed it up with brilliance. They had "earned the right" to do it without looking like arseholes.
But it's the way alot of our fans seem to think Comedy Eboue is a legend because he acts the clown that grates on me. He is at best a reasonable back up right back. When controlled he can do a job there. But I simply cannot agree with you saying he is "probably the best pure dribbler of the ball in the squad and very effective at driving teams backwards".
He is a modern Tony Daly - runs like an idiot but then loses possession cheaply and/or misses the goal by a mile if he "shoots". His "driving teams backwards" is down to them knowing that if they stand off and track him he will simply run the line and piss the possession away with no end result. He has been sussed out totally.
Also we as Arsenal fans have always taken the high ground with regard to Liverpool and the diving of Gerrard & Torres and Manure and Rooney/Van Longface's diving yet some of us worship one of the worst cheating divers to ever play the game! And he still does it - granted, not as often as before but that is down to him not playing as often. Give this prick a run in the team and it'll be dives every week again. Almost as bad is his constant feigning injury and whining to the ref after every single tackle.
I think that the term "legend" might be causing a bit of an issue in it's use. I don't think ANYONE thinks Eboue is a legend in the sense of Tony Adams, Charlie George etc..but it's a term used in the modern world by younger people to describe someone good.
Ie - I'm at work with the mother of all hangovers, my pal turns up with a double sasuage and egg mcmuffin. "You legend" now I am not about to start worshipping the fella am I ?
I know some of you take issue with Eboue's diving antics and yes it's pissed me off at times, but he's not the only one. I don't recall too many people saying "Ah you know, that Champions League final, forget Lehmann's red card, or Al letting in at the near post - We should never have been 1-0 up in the first place because that c*nt Eboue dived"
And besides all that if certain fans like the guy and find him funny, so what ? Why does it bother you so much ? No one is suggesting he is the next Messi, no-ones banging the drum demanding he starts every game, they just find him funny. Big Deal.
Eboue is like a turd on a beautiful sandy beach; or a bogey in a chilled glass of champagne; or a fart in a crowded lift; or Cindy Crawford's wart; or 10 litres of agricultural diesel in a Ferrari's fuel-tank.
He's a cult alright - but someone has changed the L and the N around on my keyboard!
Personally I think he has turned his game around since the Wigan incident. I think this was a turning point for him. I think its also down to AW playing him in what is clearly his best position rather than wide left like he did that day. Towards the end of last season when he was being rotated with Sagna I thought he was playing well and had another good game at right back on saturday. As an understudy I think he is a very good squad player to have as he can do a job at right back as well as pushing further forward against the lesser teams.
I think the so called love in comes from those fans who got on his back during that game who like me have seen his attitude change since that incident and see a different player who now plays with passion and commitment, which imo is something I can appreciate.
How many players that we have had in the squad in recent seasons would have crumbled when he had 60,000 people jeering him, not withstanding the fact it was his own fans? Bearing in mind at the time we had horrific injuries, and he was rushed back to aid the sqaud...how many players would have refused to play when injured / below standard? We moan our players are brittle, but he was there when asked to play..just like professionals should....but it isnt always the case.
He didnt sulk, moan, cry, ask for a transfer, slag off the club in the media or abuse the people that abused him (cough *rooney* *adebayor).
He got his head down, worked hard and won the respect of the fans back.
THATS why he is well liked by the crowd - along with the fact he is a decent squad footballer who shows a genuine desire for the club.
He is very well liked in the Arsenal community, and in my opinion people are far too harsh on him - its mainly you old boys!!
