US Martin what game were you watching?
reading your report you would have thought we played well.We didnt we were poor. Our passing game wasnt there and without that we looked average.Their keeper had nothing to do all game.and our failure again to kill off a game we were winning has cost us again
Terrific day it wasnt

Hang on Donaldo - I think you're taking some of that out of context. I would suggest as you ssay we didn't play terrifically well and said as much. But to win when you play poorly and then have to play the last half-hour down a man that if you get out with a win of any sort it's a terrific day.
I would say that if that *word censored* dowd had blown full time after that last corner was headed clear hell yes it would have been a terrifc day precisely because we won when we didn't have a terrific perfromance from much of our team, and had to play a man down for a while on top of that.
A good performance doesn't always ensure a terrific day. A miserable perofrmance doesn't always ensure a miserable day. I think that is the point. We had a poor day though some players and parts of our game were really good too, and had we won it would have been a terrific day. We didn't and that makes it a shit day.
Furious with the late concession but we didn't play well, and our goal was hilariously fortunate - sort of game you just know we are going to concede late in.
As for the penalty, has Rosicky cashed his injuries in for becoming Chris Waddle?
no matter how lucky we were to get the goal and how well sunderland played, its always annoying to let a late goal in like that after a missed penalty. I'm heartbroken
Going forward today i thought we was pretty poor in all honesty. I can remember us creating too much. I will say one thing though, the pitch played a big part. I noticed the commentator say it hadn't been waterd, which if you play football, will know its very different to a wet, slick pitch. The ball doesn't roll the same, passes need to be hit harder, its sticky under your feet. Im not sticking up for the players because their paid a hell of a lot of money to play and should be able to play on any surface.
Yes, Sunderland had a lot of the ball, but never really troubled us, i dont remember Almunia making a save, he had that header from Gyan but that was routine. Don't know why we camped ourselves in our own box with 10 minutes left either. If Clichy wasn't so one footed we would be 2 points better off as well, just clear it with your right foot for god saike.
Kos and Squallaci were SUPERB today, won so many headers and interceptions. Going forward we were far from our best, but still looked dangerous at times. We didnt play well, but Sunderland were very good today, and fuck me with 11 men we would have won easily.
We should have had a penalty for a handball from Ferdinand in the first half, that yet again match of the day ignore. The bookings for Song were absolutly laughable, Dowd is a **** of the highest order, how many fouls did Sunderland get away with today without being booked, Bramble hacked down Wilshere on edge of box ignored, the foul for the penalty ignored, at least another 6 times the ref failed to be consistant. The somehow mangaged to find 4 additonal minutes, they have a corner on 4 minutes 5 seconds, its headed away to safety, why not blow your whistle? Plain cheatin by Dowd.
Today we did put in a "champions" performance, and our defensive efforts deserved the 3 points, no we wernt at our best but we still done enough to win that game, we only have ourselves to blame from missing the penalty but DOWD CHEATED today.

You can blame Dowd as much as you like.If Rosicky scores the penalty we win.End of

Why Quote my post if your not going to read it mate? WE ONLY HAVE OURSELVES TO BLAME FROM MISSING THE PENALTY. Surely you can understand the points about Dowd though, he played a stupid amount of injury time, then played over that amount AFTER we had cleared a corner

You're right about Rosicky missing the pen certainly but Dowd was horiffic. My guess is if not for waht happened at Everton he blows full time after that last corner is headed out as it seems as though refs were being much stingier with the stoppage time this year before that.
I cant believe i just saw people slagging off denilson....
He was the main reason we managed to control the game so well in the last 20 minutes. One of the only arsenal players today who was capable of retaining possession. Why we sat deep in the last 5 minutes and tried pumping balls to chamakh which only gifted them back the ball i have no idea. We should have been running it to the corners and playing keepball in the middle of the park.
Could've been worse considering how abject we were for about 70 minutes but its impossible to not feel sick thinking about how the game ended and how close we were.
Just finished watching the match on postponed broadcast because of Yom Keepur (a Jewish holiday with no tv broadcasts). I'm sick. It's almost 1 AM in Israel and I have to get up for work tommorow unlike most of the world (lucky lucky bastards).
Thought we played well if we take the circumstances into account (Cesc injured, Song's red card, Penalty miss). The defence worked well, especially our two new CBs, Cham was good, Almunia good as well. Despite all Sunderland's possesion throughout the match I can't remember a single clear cut chance apart from their goal.
One more thing. The referee today was a pure disgrace. Very very home biased. 94 minutes were up after they took the corner, why the fuck hasn't he blown the whistle? I don't know.
We again conceded a goal after we cleared it from the penalty area, and the rushed out of there,. The other team put it in again and we conceded.
Despite the end result, I think we showed a lot of steel today, and we were very unfortunate not to kill the game off.
I agree about the CB's, thought they were both excellent throughout.
Squillaci has that look of a serial killer about him, he put in an early tough sliding tackle on Bent to show him he's in for a battle, after that I noticed Bent never challenged him in the air. Finally a hard bastard at the back.

Agree.
SS and TV would be my first choice.
Still think kos played well so its good to have proper depth and competition at CB.

I find how we began the match tougher to swallow than how it ended really, in that as gutting as their equaliser was it didn't explain how absolutely indifferently we played the up until the sending off really, and even after that sometime.
That is the worrying thing from today. Conceding at the death was a shame but our back four and yes Almunia played very well under rather trying circumstances , and nearly allowed us to pull out a surprising win again under the circumstances.
